I just this morning finished Stephanie's book. It is wonderful. I'm not sure that it was meant to be read in like three sittings but I did. I kept laghing out loud and then I'd have to share with DH. I think it scared him a little to find out that I'm not the only one in the world who obsesses about yarn and knitting. Have Fun!

That Verena looks really interesting - does it have English translations? I took some German in college and I'm still having nightmares. Can't imagine trying to figure out a pattern.

The big debate -- should I read or knit! Plus,
planning and starting a new project are so much more fun than finishing a current project! Like Cara, I think the Verena mag looks most enticing
(if it comes in English, I think I'm going to try to track it down). What a wonderful quandry to be in!!!! Happy new project planning.

Leslie

P.S. I just picked up "At Knit's End" too.

I'd be curious to know what you liked in the Verena. I'm currently making cardigan # 43 in kelly green.

I've never heard of Verena. I guess you're able to understand it well enough. Nothing like browsing the new patterns :)

Verena looks nice - the only other German knitting magazine I know of is Rebecca. I wonder where you got it from: when I was in Germany for Christmas I couldn't find Rebecca anywhere and never noticed this one! Maybe I just don't know the right places to look in the Ingolstadt/Munich area.

Hello Alison,

can you tell me if you have a subscription to "Verena" and if yes how much it is and where I can get it? Thanks a lot!

Flipping through knitting mags always inspires me to pick up my abandoned projects and either frog them or finish them so that I can make room on my roster for whatever cool new pattern I've spotted :-).

In the Verena mag, I really like the long blue coat (it's on the page that I linked to). It looks so fun! I don't know if there's an english translation for the mag. I've never seen or heard of one. I noticed that One Fine Yarn sells the magazines, but in German. I don't have a subscription myself, just a very nice mother-in-law who always sends me the latest mags. (Unfortunately she has a hard time finding Rebecca mags too, Marie!)

Those post-project blues always come around... I find browing patterns for inspiration often works for me, hope it did for you too.

Hello everyone,
Verena (and other Burda magazines as well as many other German publications) subscription is available in US through glpnews (http://www.glpnews.com/EN/Crafts/Crafts.html). I am afraid that Verena is only in German, because some of the other magazines they offer, they have in English translation (like Burda sewing); so if they don't have it, there might not be one.
I had a subscription last year and it was good. They are reliable, but it does take the mags some time to come to your door because they are distributed via (slow) mail (unless you pay more for priority mail). All mags come from NY, so if they have a blizzard or something (happened to me once) you might wait a little longer!
Hope this helps!

Looks like good knit-lit. Can't wait for the Summer IK!
