waiting to exhale

Kim has started her first Dale sweater and (unintentionally) shamed me into getting back to work on my Dale bug sweaters. Thanks, Kim!

I was surprised at how well I was able to pick up the two-handed fair-isle knitting again. It actually felt pretty natural. I managed to finish the heads on the little row of dudes at the bottom of the sweater body and have finally begun the bugs (volkswagen, that is). Check it out! Although it's going pretty well, I do find myself knitting and knitting, desperately trying to get to the few one-color rows between the motifs. Just 10 more rows to straight knitting... just 7 more rows to straight knitting... just 2 more rows to straight knitting... aahhh....

And in other anxiety-ridden news, the knitted Christmas gifties I worked so hard to finish in time to send to Germany have apparently gotten lost in the mail. No sign of them yet, when they should have been there the week before Christmas. Aaarrggghhhhh!

Fantastic website!! Keep up the geat work...website and knitting. Not only do you have a wonderful "scrapbook" of your projects, but you have shared info with others. Your boys are adorable. Never thought I would see myself or one of my projects on the internet-ha, ha.

The mail sometimes works in mysterious ways. But almost all of the time, packages eventually do get to their destinations. I will keep my fingers crossed for yours.

Bummer about the mailed gifts. Hopefully, they'll show up soon. I LOVE those Dale sweaters.

Nightmare about the packages, that is always my worst nightmare about posting anything. You invest so much time in making the gift only to have it go missing. Fingers crossed that it will turn up!

LOL! Don't mention it Alison! You're going to hold my hand when it comes time to steek, right? (What? Practice first? Nevah, ah say!)

Ouch. The work, the time, the energy, the love -- and lost in the mail. But it's consoling to know that I'm not alone. My sister has still not received her (knitted) xmas gift. I bit the bullet this weekend and ordered more yarn for another try.

Note to self: Next time? Tracking.

Hi Alison !
Eventhough I read your blog daily, I never posted beofre. But I thought I would give you some comfort regarding your package...
I live in Switzerland and mailed my family and friends in France (not so far, see ?) some small packages with Christmas presents. They should have been there some time before Christmas and were delivered... today ! I am so happy because there was a pair of socks for my father.
There has been something going on with the mail in Europe... I hope your packages reach destination soon.
I love your blog and what you are knitting too. I am planning on knitting the "bug sweater" later this year. Take care !

Thanks everyone for commiserating with me about the "lost" package. I hope you're right, Veronique, that it may still have a chance of arriving. Silly that my in-laws (to whom the package was addressed) will be arriving here in two days!! Here's to all packages and in-laws out there arriving safely at their destinations!
