block party

I got a lot done over the weekend and have moved one step closer to my first february finished project. The last piece of giranimals is done - the funky asymmetrical front panel. Here is how the two front pieces fit together. Neat, huh? I laid everything out before blocking to see how it's gonna look. Becky seems to be at the same stage in our tweed jacket knit-along, but has been making some improvements to the pattern. Impressive!

So, how much do I love that little giraffe on the pocket? Well, check this out: hmm, cute jacket; oh yeah!

So all the pieces are done and being blocked now. Once the jacket is done blocking, I'll get out Elizabeth III and start blocking the front and back, which I finished reknitting in the Fall. Then those pieces can lay there staring at me as if to say, 'sleeves, woman; we neeeeed sleeeeeves'.

The jacket is looking adorable! Now to restrain myself from getting the pattern, too much others in line! Great work, can't wait to see the finished product.

Wow, great to see it all coming together. Just think, after you are done with this one you can start the next one. I don't think I caught whether you are making the other in the other colorway. If you do, do you think the boys will disagree over who wears which one?

i love it. and i too want to know is the other one going to be the other colorway?

Hi Chris! I forgot to let you know where to find the pattern. Sorry. If you haven't found it already, check out the archive page for this project for the info.

As for the second jacket, I'll be doing it just like the other one in the catalog picture except I thought that the pink pocket was too girly, so I chose a dark green for that part instead. The yarn is on its way to me now!

The jacket is sweet, very very sweet.

Lucky little ones to have such a great mommy! I'm very often amazed that you have twins and are able to do all you do.

so cute! now I can't wait to see the colors on the next one!

(& I wanted to mention this to you, since we were talking about tall + skinny kids over on Becky's blog: I find that One outgrows sleeves much more quickly than he outgrows the rest of a sweater, so adding a little sleeve length can really extend the use-value of the sweater.)

ah, never mind about the sleeves -- I see now that I misread, & it's Elizabeth III who has no arms.

Thanks for the tip about the sleeves, Daria. And yes, my Elizabeth III is a bit like the Venus de Milo: a beauty, an antique (with how long this project has lasted!), and yet still armless.

Love the jacket, it's beyond adorable! And LOL about Elizabeth begging for sleeves, I've had projects that should have said the same. ;o)

Alison, The giranimal sweater is fantastic. I look the colors. How do you secure the giraffe piece? I see in the catalog that there's a running stitch but do you need to do anything more?

I will be cheering you on with E III. Did a lot of knitting last night on T4 but now it's time to get side-tracked and post about fuzzy feet.

Can't wait to see Elizabeth III. And that jacket is going to be too adorable once it's sewn together.
