roadblock

After working on it the whole weekend, I finally finished the giraffe pocket for giranimals II. And then I ripped it all out. It was way too small. The pocket for giranimals I had come out a bit too big (I had to shorten it to make it fit) and I seem to have overcompensated when making the second pocket. Ripping out all that intarsia work was not fun and the yarn is so fluffy from the alpaca content that it kept catching and knotting. I had to cut a good deal of it out and am no longer sure that I'll have enough of the blue yarn to complete the pocket. I'll get more somewhere, but I'm now annoyed with this jacket and don't really feel like rushing to finish it before the end of February. So there.

Who thinks I should start greensleeves?!

Me! I think you should start Greensleeves, why not keep yourself happy. And if you do run out of the blue yarn I have some left over that I can send over to you. Let me know..

Didn't you delibrately make the giranimals oversized so the boys would grow into them? Do they "have" to be done by the end of February? Of course not. It does sound like you've hit a major mental block with this sweater. Take a break, start something fun, and I'm willing to bet that you'll pick up the giranimals II and enjoy working on it again. 'Cause it's all about enjoyment!

I feel like I have been the devil on your shoulder..... START GREENSLEEVES!

I don't mind being an enabler. I always encourage people to start a new project. It's what I do. Go ahead. The motivation to get back to the animals will come.

Oh, why the heck not? You've done pretty well this month. Completing eIII alone is cause for a treat.

Linda, you are so right! I hadn't even noticed that I wasn't working on anything for myself at the moment. And Elizabeth was just waiting around, so I actually haven't done any real knitting for myself since the crazy continental. Cindy also has a point: what's the rush with giranimals?

Of course, Larry has seen right through me - recognizing that I'm really just looking for someone to tell me it's okay to break my resolutions. So, thanks for the enabling everyone! I needed it.

(Melissa, are you ready?) I'm going to start greensleeves!

Put the Giranimal down, step away from it slowly. Turn around and march right into your stash room/closet/basket and get that green and go baby!
