play

All work and no play is no way to knit. I'm trying to quiet the calls for progress coming from my inner knitting taskmaster by giving myself some time off from the knitting grind to enjoy designing some stripes for my leftovers vest. I plan to slow down my knitting pace a bit 'cause I've been stressing a little about all the projects I have on the needles (and in the stash) and how I want to be working on every single one of them right now. I'm hoping that playing around with the leftover colors and doing a bit of leisurely swatching for this project will give me a more carefree attitude towards my knitting.

The inner knitting taskmaster--what a good name for that!

There's just not enough time to knit.
Good luck with your vest!

I easily get overwhelmed with the volume of projects that I've started. Then I remember I knit because I enjoy the process. So relax, have fun and swatch away!

That's why my motto is "Be Free." There has to be ONE thing in my life that doesn't cause an undue amount of stress. I'm thinking of starting a Friday Virtual Happy Hour at my blog. You'll have to come over for a virtual drink. That said, there really is not enough time to knit. I'm off to Lexington to track down some patterns and some needles. But no yarn. Absolutely NO yarn. :)

Stress seems to be free-floating around the knit blogs lately for many reasons. You are smart to recognize when to step back. Don't be like me and stress about stressing.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I have been thinking I'm not knitting fast enough & that I should have finished this 1st sleeve & well underway on the 2nd & blah blah blah.
Last night, I sat back & realised that the process is what I enjoy the most. It's not important that you & Wendy & Joe pump out a sweater a day - or whatever :-)) The thing is, I'm enjoying reading along & participating in your progress. I'm enjoying & proud of my progress & all the other things I fill the day with. So these blogs are the next best thing to sitting in the living area, open french windows onto a green & leafy garden, a large pot of coffee & tea & snacky biscuits on the coffee table & us all knitting & chatting away, filling the room with persistant laughter; doing show & tell, discussing pattern, design & techniques. That's the feeling I get when I read my fav blogs, anyway.
Let's all of us stress out & remind ourselves what we get out of this craft - inspiration, creativity & pleasure.
