mommy duty
Didn't get any knitting done yesterday night, since I was running around from store to store trying to find a matchbox car for the boys. We went out in the morning to get more matchbox cars - as we seem to have some sort of matchbox car black hole somewhere in our home - and I bought what turned out to be a mega cool garbage truck and an apparently lame-o fire tanker. The boys ended up having a huge meltdown at home after fighting over the garbage truck and I felt so bad about it that I was determined to find a second one, so each of them can have his own. Heck, they're only 84¢!
While we were out in the morning buying the crisis-inducing matchbox cars, I picked up a skein of Lion Brand's Cotton Ease. There are so many knitbloggers making Sitcom Chic and saying good things about this yarn that I thought I should check it out. I'm all about cotton now, so finding an inexpensive cotton yarn that I like would be a good thing. But no playing with the new yarn until I make some progress on brown butter. This evening, I'm sitting down in my chair and am not getting up until I've got a few more inches done. Unless of course the black hole sucks up one of the garbage trucks.

As my sister once found out at an airport security check, that black hole often winds up in Mom's coat pocket.
What color Lion Cotton Ease? And what did you decide on ASC top #2?
I think we have one of those matchbox car blackholes in my house too, except it's where my mother's day watch disappeared to sometime last year. Hope you found another cool garbage truck. :-)
I'm interested to hear how you compare the Cotton Ease with the ASC. (ASC is my current favorite too.)
good thing i am not the boys' babysitter -- my work week has been such pure hell that i would probably have had a meltdown over their meltdown and there would have been many crying people, including me!! apparently my brother used to wake me up by pounding on my head with matchbox cars. i guess that's when all my spare brain cells got knocked out of me!
Welcome to the world of "Buy 2 of the same item to save your sanity!" We have 3 years between 2 girls and they still have to have the same things. Will be interesting to see how the younger reacts when the elder gets her first bra!
Stepping up on soap box......
Welcome to "Mommie 101"
Rule #1 when purchasing Matchbox or Hot Wheels Cars. Always buy two of each. One for the black hole, one for the kiddie. Or if your little person (note I did not say guy cause the grrls like'em too)is good about not ejecting these little foot killers under kitchen appliances, they make great last minute gifts, rewards, and fight stoppers.
Stepping down from soap box.
If you need help finding another garbage truck let me know, I've got two in reserve. Really.
BTW, I love your blog!
Hi everyone! I did find another trash truck and the boys played happily with them this morning. Now Benny is trying to hoard them all and we're approaching meltdown again. C'est la motherhood!
I picked up Cotton Ease in blue and will let you know what I think re cotton ease vs. asc as soon as I'm allowed to play with it. But first there's brown butter, minimono's hat, and quite a bit of sewing that I have got to finish!
