purple pause, pagan progress, planning projects
The purple tank has been scolded for tempting me away from my knitalong and was put on hold so I could make some significant progress on Pagan. But just because I've rededicated myself to finishing Pagan, doesn't mean that I can't think (or blog) about the purple tank. Here's the pattern I'm using, from Rebecca magazine #23. I really like the pattern since it looks like I might be able to wear it as a tank or a vest. I had been thinking of using it for the leftovers vest that I started planning a while ago. We'll see how the pattern works out. So far I'm enjoying it very much. I like the half fisherman's rib at the bottom. It's so soft and fluffy. I hadn't ever done that stitch before and was pleasantly surprised at the fabric it produced.
In Pagan news, I am amazed at how fast everyone has been knitting away. Of course Linda and Kerrie are all done, and now Kerstin says she should be done this weekend and both Nora and Deb have finished all the knitting already! I'm not quite so far along, having only knit the back completely. I still have the front top half left to do (and please don't say the words weaving or ends, thanks). Since I knit it in the round, what I've finished kinda looks like a halter top. Makes me think about squeezing in this pattern in the summer of tanks.
And yet I am determined to start my next knitalong (Smooch) next week, once I finish Pagan or the purple tank. I know that Johanna has already begun hers. I hope to be able to post a progress picture of hers for you on Monday. For those of you joining in on the knitalong, feel free to start now, later, whenever. I'd love to know when you begin though, so I can note it in the sidebar and people know to look for your progress. And don't worry about me rushing through Smooch like the crazy tank girls did with Pagan, I'll have to stop halfway through so I can order enough yarn to complete it. But I can't help starting now - can't you hear the yarn calling to me?

I love the stripes you have done on pagan alison, they look great. You really don't have that much more knitting to do before you are all finished do you? smooch looks like fun as well, cant wait to see that purple ASC all smooched up! have a great weekend
WooHoo! Seaview Pagan is done! I'm definitely knitting this one again but with some changes. Will blog about it soon. I was hoping to get in a photo shoot this weekend, but rain is forecasted until Wed! Boohoo. Oh well. A wet pagan is better than no pagan. *teehee* Perhaps I should start a wet tank contest? (Why do these things just pop into my brain? Why oh why?) Love your striping. Those colors are gorgeous, Alison. I'm starting Smooch soon. Perhaps this weekend? I'm psyched to meet all of you tomorrow and pick Johanna's brain about her Smooch troubles. Until we meet . . . for the first time ~ K :)
Alison,
Luv your stripes in your tank. It's got me itchin to make a Tank too! I recently finished Smooch. I made my with ASC in the color Jazz. I had started before I knew about your knit along. The v-neck was a little too deep for me,so I had to make some adjustments. But I really enjoyed making it. Can't wait to see everybody's Smooch when they are complete! You guys are awesome.
What pattern is that halter top from? If you do decide to make that. Maybe I'll join ya.
Hey Jeanine! Too bad you missed our Smooch knitalong. You were just ahead of the times, I guess. Thanks for sharing a bit of your experience. I was worried about the v-neck and may have to shorten mine a bit too. The halter top is from Rebecca magazine #24. I've got so many summer tops going on, I'm not sure I'll have time to make it, but if I happen to find some asc on sale, or Cotton Ease that I can't resist, I think there's a good chance!
Alison - I read your blog almost every day and enjoy it very much! Would you mind recommending a source for purchasing Rowan yarn on-line? I'm getting hooked on Rowan and just bought their "Treasury" book of patterns.
Thanks!
Mary
Hi Alison! Could you please sign me up for the striped sweater knitalong. I am using yellow (zeste) rather than the pink - and have to confess I have already begun it..... Sorry, but I couldn't resist! Also, I will be knitting it as the pattern dictates as I'm not ready to go off-piste like the Pagan Tank Girls!
Many thanks
Anita
Hi Mary, glad to hear that you've caught the Rowan bug. I don't have a favorite online Rowan source, since I can get Rowan yarns at my LYS. But I would recommend you take a peek at some of the sellers on eBay (like this one or this one). Many of those in Britain have eBay stores with a lot of yarn in stock and even with shipping to America, the prices are good. There are also lots of online shops in America. I have ordered yarn from Common Threads Fiber Art Store before and had a good experience. And if you are in the UK, LoobyLou has a list of shops she uses there on her blog. Happy yarn hunting!
