I'm knitting right through this knitty malaise thing. The wannabe sweater isn't thrilling to knit, but I do like it. I'm having a similar experience knitting it that I did with the purple tank I finished earlier in the month. While knitting, I'm thinking, 'man this thing is purple, this is not going to look good, what a bad idea.' And then I hold it up and anxiously peek in the mirror and I love it! Start knitting again, and all doubts return. I have to keep getting up and going to the mirror to convince myself yet again that it does look good. I need that Big Red chewing gum guy in my bathroom to tell me, 'it looks goooood on 'ya.'

I looove the way those stripes are looking. You're making super quick speedy progress on this one considering the gauge! Way to go Alison...
The purple stripe-y-ness of it is looking fine. Every time I come here, I'm inspired to knit faster!
Stripes are looking fabulous ! Very even knitting too.
Keep telling yourself how good it looks - because it does - and *believe* it.
You're on fire girl! Yoo hoo--Here I am--over her in the dust! I feel your pain about the colors-- I'm not too sure about the colors I chose--I look at the yellow and think, "I'm not sure I like this color--I don't like yellow why did I pick this?" I have to hold up the pink color (by the way, what color pink are you using?) to reassure myself. Then I sit down with the yellow and feel unsure again.
Your colors look great! As you said, "wait for it..." It will be great
hey I love that color scheme! It looks great. WTG on knitting through the funk.
maybe it is a regular funk but you are taking it out on your knitting? :) just kidding... i think the colors look fun. mine will be so BRIGHT in comparison...when i start it. i know - i know - but i had class last night and then the gym and didn't get home until late and tonight i am going to the ballet so probably won't be able to start either
dude you have already finished 5 tanks (including hubby vest) just since april? you are a knitting machine lady!!! maybe you just need a MINI knitting vacation? :)
I'd like to officially join the Smooch knit-a-long. Of course when I'll actually get started is another subject. Did get some yarn this past weekend though - Classic Elite's "Spotlight". Works to gauge so I'm excited. Did get nervous though when I noticed that on the pattern, wher they put a picture of one skein if it's easy and two skeins if it's harder, etc. that the Smooch pattern had "2" skeins showing above it rather than "1" . I'm thinking "oh no, I"ll never be abel to do it". Hopefully I'll be able to get through it. I've been printing out everyone's comments as they knit along. I may be yelling for help at some point!
I know I'm an idiot and I should be able to find it somewhere on your page or links, but I just can't. Do you have a good place to order the wannabe Phildar pattern? I can't seem to find a source online and I'd love to join in the knitalong. Your sweater is fabulous (as is your site). Thanks!
I am totally digging your color choices. :)
I really like the color for your stripes. I think when itsn't done with the sleeves and the broad v-neck that you will really like it. Are you going to make it long sleeve or short?
OOoooh, I LOVE it! It's amazing how it changes when knit in a different yarn and color. You rock, Alison :-)
Hi all! Thanks for helping think positive about the Becky sweater. It's really growing on me. The pattern is long sleeved, Michelle. But I've been thinking about three-quarter length. We'll see.
Beverly, welcome to the knit-along. Feel free to ask questions. Looks like we have one Smooch finished and another almost done. Several others are halfway done about.
Rachael, you might try asking Becky at www.skinnyrabbit.com if she has time to help out another Becky wannabe. I don't know of any sources here in America for the pattern. An online store in Canada, www.knit-and-stitch.ca says they carry the yarn. You might try them. Also, I was thinking that this sweater reminded me of Sweetness from the latest knitty. With a bit of restyling (take some set-in shoulder instructions from a different pattern perhaps and only do a few stripes), you could copy the Becky sweater pretty well, I think. If you want to try this, I'd be happy to give you a hand.
Actually, the fact that you modified Sweetness to make it short-sleeved made me think you may do the same thing for this sweater. Either way, I think the stripes and the neckline are the real attractions of this design.
