I'll think about that tomorrow

I am officially not thinking about Smooch today. I thought through about 15 different possibilities yesterday and am going to let it sit. Except there is that sale still going on at my LYS.....

But I can't think about that now, because I am too excited about my Becky sweater. I finished the back!

I'm really liking the sweater now. I'm starting to remember how much I enjoyed knitting with a finer yarn. I love those neat little rows of stitches. This weekend I want to start a sleeve. I like doing the sleeves inbetween the big front and back pieces, so it's not so depressing when you've got the whole body done and want to start sewing and wearing the thing and you've still got two sleeves to knit!

Alison - Which lys are you referring to, with a salegoing on now? I'm looking forward to Wild&Wooly's sale next week, but am curious about others. Thanks. -Tammey

Wow! That is looking GREAT, and I love the color combinations you chose. You really have an eye for color, Alison!

i LOVE your purple/pink combo! love it! i am going to be v. happy w/ my pink/orange, but still a wee bit jealous of the purple/pink! :) p.s. OK i did the tubular cast-on last night and 2 rows of ribbing. so i have actually started. finally. but i'm a little nervous about the size. doing M because becky did S. i know it's stretchy and all, but i am going to be very body conscious in the final product, i fear. :)

I'll add to the chorus: It looks great! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Bummer about the Smooch yarn. Maybe it's a sign that you need to rip ;-)

I'd be happy to look at my LYS, if you'd like. Just let me know.

Alison, this makes me want to start one too. However, I bought yarn for at least 2 more tanks. Your color combo looks great. Can't wait to see the final pic.

very preeeety! I'd be interested to know how you picked the color combo--was it hard? Did you just put colors together till you liked it? Did you use a color wheel?

I was thinking of starting the sleeves next too for the same reason. Sleeves seem like such an afterthought. haha

Out of stock Rowan -- have you e-mailed Up Country to see if they can bail you out on the missing 3 balls? I know it seems silly to order 3 balls all the way from England, but it beats ripping. I just bought some discontinued Jaeger Persia from them; they are very nice folks to deal with and answer e-mail inquiries quite promptly.

Grace Robinson and Company in Freeport is always well stocked in Rowan yarns. Their number is (207) 865 6110. If they have the color and dyelot, I would be happy to get the ASC and mail it to you. I would probably be able to go early next week. Just let me know.

Tammey, thanks for the tip about W&W. I didn't know that they were having a sale next week! My LYS is A Good Yarn in Brookline and they were having a sale for a few days this week (today was the last day, sorry!) on all cotton yarns. She does it every summer about this time, so you might keep your ears open next year.

Thanks Sharon, Evelyn, Melissa, Mariko and Jen for the suggestions about finding more of the yarn for Smooch. I'd pretty much decided to redo the lace part anyway and I think the blue yarn will look good in another project I have planned, so I'm okay with ripping and starting over. Evelyn, I'm definitely going to keep UpCountry in mind when I'm looking for the hard to find Rowan stuff. Thanks for reminding me that if it's really important, I can order straight from the source, as it were. And thanks Melissa for the number of the place in Maine. I may take you up on the offer sometime, if I get into another Rowan jam!

Leigh, about the colors. Funny, I just sort of ended up with these two colors in this yarn. I bought the purple online once thinking it was blue and the pink came as one ball in an eBay mixed bag purchase and I hunted down six more balls of it, 'cause I liked it so much. I couldn't figure out what to do with either, then I thought together they might be enough to make one sweater. And when Carolyn said she was making the Becky sweater, I knew that was the sweater! The striped Pagan tank was also made from a bunch of odds and ends that Kerrie sent me and some I had left over from other asc projects. Moral of the story: there's great things waiting to be made from your stash, people!
