overload
I'm used to this with my knitting, but now I've got an overload of sewing projects. One birthday and I suddenly have something you could call a fabric stash and a lot of exciting patterns to make. (Okay, I know I've still got two projects unfinished, but I'm beginning to think that I won't like dressy and it's too hot for me to get excited about long pajama bottoms, even if they are groovy.) And no more sewing for the boys - I'm talking fun summer patterns for me! Now the problem is deciding where to start. Should I make this little stripey top or maybe this lovely strappy top or perhaps this lacy flowery blouse?
I've still got to look through my new Burda magazines to see if there isn't a pattern in them that just has to get made. So many possibilites - how can I ever decide?

Oh, I really love the lacy flowery top. Very sweet. Yes, I will be at Knitsmiths today. I've already given notice at my day job. (And they'll be very lucky if I ever come back. Only if I receive a serious pay raise. And time off for good behavior. *teehee*)
I vote for the stripey top, no buttonholes to bother with, very straightforward and quick sewing. Nice pattern!
Now what was wrong with the dress??
Good idea, Maus. The others may seem more exciting, but as I'm still learning, I think it's best to start with the simpler stuff first.
I think dressy is going to be too tight. I know that many beginning sewers make the mistake of making things too small. Getting the ease right seems to be a real skill (one I've only now started to master in my knitting!). I'll give it another try on and see if I can get motivated to finish it. But I also think that I picked a fabric that just isn't flattering on me. There is some different fabric in my new stash for a summer dress, so if I decide I want a dress I can start over with that.
I am not sure if button holes are more technical than a zipped closure. In any case, you have done both of these. So, I would say, take a pick!! As for your dressy, is there any fabric leftover? Is it tight around arm holes, or in general? There may be a way to fix the problem. But, if you don't like the fabric, let it rest. I started this comforter cover at the end of 80's, one negative comment from my DH and I stopped working on it. I was piecing yellow, pink, red and orange cotton fabrics to create a nice pattern, but he did not like it. In any case, I finally finished it last year!!
And, welcome to the land of don't know what to choose. I am not sure if I spend more time deciding what to make or actually making things up.
What a dilema! I vote for strappy top. I love the flower pattern of the fabric.
I, too, like the fabric for the strappy top the best. I think it will be adorable.
i vote for the strappy top. I love that style with the straight front edge. and the fabric is so pretty too!
