beginnings and ends
I finally began the lettering on the little star sweater. I'd put this off for a while because my evening tv has consisted lately of foreign language films that require a bit more attention than two-color work will allow.
This is how far I was during last night's less demanding tv schedule. I decided to do stranding again. Not sure why I'm so nervous about duplicate stitch. I guess I'm just worried that if it doesn't work out I'd have to reknit the whole piece. With the writing done, it's on to the actual star now. That'll require some real focus with all the ends needed for the intarsia.
And speaking of ends.

I've now woven in ALL the ends on the back of the native sweater. I celebrated by eating the rest of the boys' birthday cake (including a couple more fire dogs). Oh, I earned cake alright: before, after. I feel good about getting the sleeve ends woven in this week. And then I have to knit the front and sew it all up. This time, I'll be weaving in the ends periodically as I go!

BRAVO! I am actually standing up applauding. Which is probably really ticking off my sleeping teens! The end is near. Actually, the end is done.
I thought the before and after pics were going to be of the cake you polished off. Oh, well.
I have an inox needle for you. I'll bring it the next time I knitsmith.
You Do deserve cake. In fact, *I* deserve cake too. Cake for all!!!
Congrats!
WooHoo! I knew you'd get there. I'm gonna have a piece of cake to celebrate. :)
Terrific! And wow, those ends aren't going anywhere anytime soon! Isn't it satisfying to see things get neater and neater?
little star is going to be very cute and the lettering looks great. You are going to be an intarsia whiz! :)
Lurvely! Them's way more than I had to do on the toddler's jumpsuit -- and more skillfully executed, of course. We've no cake here, but I'll enjoy a piece of my boss's birthday chocolates in your honor!
I am a new knitter and I love the all seasons top you did from Rebecca 25. Where can I get those patterns in English?
Hey, you changed your font! Very nice. :-)
Anyhoo, I thought you were going to show the cake before and after too. :-)
Good job on the ends--it's going to be a beautiful sweater.
Yes, bravo re: your ends! And how do you do duplicate st so beautifully? I've been nervous about it *forever* and avoid it whenever possible!
Excellent job on weaving in those ends! Cake? Don't mind if I do.....
Hey Marg, thanks for the complement, but I did stranding and not duplicate stitch. I'm also a bit intimidated at the idea of doing duplicate stitch.
Thanks for noticing the change, Leigh. I'm hoping to add some more little pretties over the next few weeks, just to jazz up the page a tiny bit. Everyone else has such fancy blogs nowadays, I feel like I have to do a little something to mine.
Enjoy your cake, everyone!
Wow! Your native sweater is simply fabulous. Just like your work. Girl, you should have a hole cake just for you. So many ends... I've never seen so many ends.
