knitting new(s)

Several people have commented that I should start something new, since I did technically have a finished project last week (the hat from minimono & co.). Of course, I've still got a few other projects in the active pile (e.g. - native, the pipsqueak sweaters). Nevertheless, I agree with you! I should start something new. But it should probably be something small, 'cause my finished project was so small. Hmmm.... small. How about a tiny tank?! Perhaps you've seen Becky's and Claudia's? Becky was so thoughtful as to send over a few skeins of that fun ribbon yarn for my birthday, so that tank girl can have a tiny tank too!

Here's the tiny swatch.

Get it wet, watch it grow. Apparently the ribbon yarn stretches quite a bit after washing. I sure hope Becky and Claudia are right about this! I'm planning on knitting it at a slightly smaller gauge and count on it stretching out to size.

PS - In other news, Kerstin, of At My Knits End, has moved her blog. In case you missed her redirect last week, her new address is: www.crazydaisy.us. And to all you ComCast-ers out there, welcome back! Glad that your ISP can now access my page. I missed you!

I swatched for the tiny tank at the weekend as well! Its fun to knit with isn't it? What size needles did you get guage on?

ahhhhhh....life is good. I can see you!
Did I say how terribly thankful I am for your help yesterday? You made me see the light, and for that I am grateful. It was not an easy task.
Hey, ribbie cardi is looking fiiinnnne! Loving the color!
A tiny tank! Oh, what a surprise, oh tank queen! :)
So glad I can see you now. I didn't like the invisible stuff!

Hi Alison--that's a very pretty swatch! I'm counting on seeing tiny tank on Wednesday or maybe tomorrow! :-)

Alison- Put me down as having finished knitting the "chickami". Wore it out to dinner last Friday!! I am starting the "wannabe" this afternoon. Yeah, what's next??? Any fall ideas in the works??? Thanks for all the challenges - it has been a fun summer knitting along with all the others. I plan on sending Becky some photos soon. Just need to find a body to take the pictures for me!!

Sure enough, as soon as I ask a question the answer was right there in front of me. Sign me up for the fall Cardi. I have had that on my to-do list for awhile now. So, no time like the present to go for it.
Thanks

Thanks, Alison! The tiny tank yarn reminds me of those sponges we buy for the kids that start out very tiny and grow huge in water. Max had one from the Museum of Science that became an enlarged brain. Felt kind of squishy, too. Maybe tiny tank will grow to accommodate the Charmin? *teehee*

Well, Alison. I ended up making the very smallest size in the Frenchy pattern, if that tells you anything about stretchy-stretchy...;-)

BTW, if you don't have the TT pattern, email me OK?

Thanks Claudia, I just got my pattern book today. Whoopee! Glad to hear that the smallest size isn't inconceivably small. I was planning on taking your advice and knitting to something smaller than my real size.

Kerrie, I think I like the look of the stitches better knit at a slightly smaller gauge than called for. I'll probably use 5.5mm needles. Cool that you're also working on one!

Leigh, I'm sure you don't mean this tiny tank. Finished on Wednesday. Nah. I've got my ribby cardie cheating to do! ;)

Congrats, MKaye, on finishing your ChicKami. Can't wait for some pictures. Happy to have you on another knit-along. I'll post your name tonight!
