Had a great time at Knitsmiths this week, as usual! Lots of really interesting projects: Tanya just finished an amazing afghan and Amber was making a giant bucket-o-chic hat for her rather large-headed dad. It seems that many of the rest of us were working on sleeves. Ingrid had a sleeve for her textured slip stitch cardigan in hand, Kerstin a sleeve for her Femme Fatale, and I a sooty sleeve. After discussing all the sleeves in progress we came to the conclusion that sleeves take forever! They just won't end.

Sleeves do take forever!! I'm working on some now and it seems like they're taking longer than the back of the sweater. Sounds like you're feeling better. I just got some Phildar yarn so I'll be casting on soon.
Isn't that strange how sleeves are such a time consuming part of a project? I found the raglan sleeves for Bless just seemed to go on and on and on. Sleeves in kids sweaters are about bearable though!
I'm trying a new sleeve approach with my Elfin...knit them first when fired with enthusiasm & treat them as a swatch.Seems to be working,so far.
Yum,Mozart balls.Got a huge bag in an exchange.Knitting exchange that is.
The Fanes do a little ,or big if you make them like that, sweet that's to die for.Little balls of a chocolatey, nutty ganache they call nougat, but isn't,wrapped in marzipan.Chilled then rolled in cocoa powder.
I think I'm going to go barter with a Dane !
Y'all can't know how much I've missed the KnitSmiths these last three weeks! I'm excited to get back on Sunday -- and guess what I'll probably be working on? SLEEVES!
I'm actually quite happy about my sleeves -- they mean I finally finished the d**n body of the sweater! Now, when I have to knit 17" of stockinette sleeves and 15.5" of stockinette body for my Norah Gaughan sweater, we'll talk. :)
We have a chocolatier here that makes Mozart Kuglen OMG they are so yummy, they are kinda biggish, maybe an inch or so in diameter. They come in milk and dark chocolate....

Glad you're feeling better. Sleeves! Yuck! I wish I liked vests.
Shannon, can't wait to see you back at Knitsmiths! Join us in sleeve hell - all of us besides Ingrid, that is. ;)
Vests would be a good idea Larry, unless of course you're me and you make them all stripey. After sleeve hell, I've got weaving in ends hell waiting for me!
Need more chocolate.
I brought back some of those Mozart balls for my boyfriend's parents (now the inlaws.) My now father-in-law took one bite, chewed and got a introspective look on his face. Then he said, "Hershey's better."
Madness! More for me!
I think you need to start an import business on those Mozart balls. I can be your quality control person.
I agree with Dava. I'll be your middlewoman. Hey, I'm up to the raglan shaping on the sleeve from hell! Now here's my dilemma ~ can I start the front now or should I start another *groan* sleeve? And thanks to you, Lady Blue, I did my first show rows last night! WooHoo! (Have you been watching the bachelorette show where she gets to choose among the geekiest of geeks? We must discuss it next Sunday. VIP topic. *teehee*)
I'm hoping to join you in Sleeve Hell....um...at Knitsmiths on Sunday. Falaise sleeves never quit either.
Sleeves from HELL, I believe we decided! But, the mozart chocolate balls were divine. ANd took the heat from hell away and made it a tad more tolerable!
Sleeve on!
:)
Short rows, not "show" rows! Sometimes my brain shorts out or maybe I was just thinking about the Average Joe show. Or maybe I've been working on this sleeve for too long. :)
