a bucket hat
I caved. I bought (*gasp*) a bucket hat.

I was standing in line at the department store with some Christmas purchases and trying to keep the boys amused by trying on hats. Well, I slipped on this bucket hat and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Gosh darnit, if that hat didn't look good. And better than any hat that I could knit. I couldn't put it back. (Forgive me, Bonne Marie and Becky!)
I guess that now that's out of my system, I should get back to the hubby hat.

buck-it!
I love that hat! It looks great on you, I don't blame you for buying it.
With all the knitting you have been doing, treating yourself is nothing bad. Hat looks good. :)
Alison, don't worry about buying the hat. It looks good -- and maybe you'll find yourself using it as a model to knit one in a different colour, say, or with a furry trim, or whatever! I may yet be inspired by these bucket showing up everywhere...
You could have lied and said you knit it! It does look good on you, wish I could wear hats.
Hey! If it looks good and calls to you, why not? Very nice :-)
I know exactly how you feel: I took a shortcut through a store the other night and I bought a grey bucket hat to match the jacket I was wearing right then. I had so many plans to knit one (as soon as I got through some holiday knitting), but it was raining out, and the hat was on sale and, and and who cares - I really like it! Sometimes it's good to succumb to the temptation. Nice work & cute hat!
Just pretend you made it. ;-)
I like the bucket hat. Sometimes you just have to buy one. You could always make another one sometime.
After being unemployed for 1 1/2 years, I am working retail for the holidays. Yesterday I rang out a women purchasing a light blue mohair bucket hat. I chatted on about the popularity of the bucket hats.
I counted up all the gifts I have done and I have 13 done (10 hats, 1 scarf and 2 sets of mittens). I have started my mothers Lily bag and I think the charity hat will wait till after Xmas as I have to still sew the lining in my nieces felted bag. The Lily bag is fun knitting, I have the base done and have just started the sides.
Looks like it was worth the purchase!
ssk
You look Mahvelous!!! I am seriously being tempted by a wool plaid Burberry I saw at Bloomies the other day after I got my hair cut! Maybe if I win the Lottery!
I'm so glad to hear that Becky and Bonne Marie have let me off the hook! Thanks, gals. I'll make a bucket someday, but for now my head is warm and my hands are busy with other things. :)
