in with the blue
Lots of new projects going on and coming up here at the blue blog! So many that I can't seem to settle down and just knit. Although I have been knitting off and on over the last few days, I probably spent more time organizing the stash and planning my next few projects. Besides thinking about the yarn I'll be claiming from my ribby cardie and getting the yarn together for my Must Have Cardigan, I managed a few more rows on the tiny-gauged, wrist-pain-inducing baby sweater. With 198 stitches across (it's a wrap style-sweater, so that's a back and two fronts in one piece) and babying my wrist all the way, I'm taking this an inch at a time! Also made some progress on my blue phildar sweater, getting up to the raglan decreases on the back. But I got confused on the numbers (must... use... row... counter!) and put it aside. It is impossible to count rows in this crazy bumpy yarn!

How many rows do you see?
In other news, I'm working behind the scenes here on the blog and hope to have a little something new to show by the end of the month. And we've entered a brave new world in child rearing, as we have finally taken the sides of the boys' cribs down. There's no turning back now!

Yes, Virginia, there is blue Dora fabric!

phildar folly
We didn't make it to a year in the crib department. Once our eldest learned to walk at 10 months she was ready to be free. Crib mattress on the floor made all the difference. It seems you can't sleep when you have a screaming kid who doesn't WANT to be in a crib!
I'm still in shock over your beautiful Riby ! :0)
Of course,if you won't wear it it's the right thing to do..And it's gorgeous yarn. And it's all knitting...
I can't imagine one small,self-possessed person running free,never mind two ! It'll be fun. ;-]
Ohh, I love the ribby! But you gotta do what you gotta do! That Phildar is lovely, and use the row counter! I am so addicted to mine, when I am doing something that doesn't require one, i find myself reaching for it anyway!
I have visions of twins wreaking havoc in the house while parents are sleeping! ;) That little Dora blanket is very cute by the way.
Giboulees is really bumpy isn't it? I'm working on mine with a vengance today, so far 1 sleeve, 1 back half the other sleeve and most of the front. I should be wearing it by the weekend. Hurrah!!
Hi. Love your blog but I have what is probably a stupid question... How do you make the little buttons? Are they a graphic of a particular size (how many pixels x hoe many pixels) and how do you add the link in them? I'd appreciate the help because I'd sure like to make one for my blog.
Thanx, cheryl
Oooh, Chris, 10 months, wow!
Kerrie, I'm so digging the Giboulees, even without a row counter. (Kristine, I am just too darned lazy to stand up and pull it out of my knitting bag!)
Cheryl, to make the little buttons, I make a graphic on a paint program like Paint Shop or Photoshop about 90-100 pixels by 30-35 pixels. Place the graphic on your page using the same HTML code you use to display any other image. People copy your button by right clicking on the image and saving it to their system and displaying it on their page. To make the image be a hyperlink, you/they use the same code as for any link, but instead of typing in text to be linked, enter the code for displaying an image. Now the image is hyperlinked. Get it? Have fun making your own button!
We took my the side of my son's crib off in August, he's 26 months now. It's been great. He loves his bed and there is very little crying since he can just get out whenever he wants, if he's not feeling well or has a bad dream or whatever. I have to find that Dora fabric though she's Ian's favorite!
Oh boy, a whole new world of freedom! We switched from the crib to a toddler bed when our daughter twisted her ankle quite badly climbing _in_ to the crib... didn't want to see what happened when she tried to climb out! Now she jumps into our bed every morning.
Count me in for the rip-along, I have two things that need ripping. The biggest one is a handspun gansey that is just not right. It's been sitting on the loom bench mocking me for months now....
Alison, this is where I sound like a supercilious bitch (and I don't mean to) but have you tried row-counting on the wrong-side. I find it alot easier to count purl stitches than knit stitches - I always get cross-eyed when counting on the right-side. I only use a row counter when I'm doing the increases on a sleeve. I'm usually too lazy to turn the counter every row.
