bye, bye blue
And finishing off the rip-a-thon, a little cool down exercise. Remember blue, my bumpy giboulees sweater that I knit half of using the wrong pattern? I've decided to stick with this pattern, but since I don't have enough yarn to do the big bell sleeves, I ripped out the sleeve that I'd started so I can reknit it straight. Ready for one last rip?!
Before and after:

Breathe out. Begin to knit again. I was glad to read in the comments yesterday that so many of you were inspired to rip out old dead-end and unloved projects and are excited to start knitting with the old yarn again. I had so much fun, I'm already thinking about other projects that I might want to rip and redo. Might just have to make the rip-along a regular event!

the week long frog-a-thon
see its not so hard...to rip it..rip it good. (couldnt resist). the big blue thing is going good for me as well, I've finished the back and a sleeve of the new sweater and posted pics.
good luck!
The best thing about this rip-a-long is that now I'm not intimidated to rip out part of a project I'm working on so that I get it perfect. Thanks for the encouragement, Alison!
LOL I think there must be a blue sweater curse- mine is blue, too! :-)
I told my husband about the rip-along and he said, "hey what about that wedding afghan from 2 years ago that you never finished". I realized he was right so I am going to do it this weekend. I have also decided to rip out the sweater I made this summer. I worked very hard on it changing it to suit me but I'm not fond of it at all. I think it taught me a great deal about sweater construction, but the yarn deserves to be used for a sweater I will wear! I'll post pictures tomorrow!
I've ggot another 4 items that I'm planning on ripping-out. If this trend continues I may never have to buy yarn again!
I've got the back of an entrelac sweater done up to the armholes which I'm going to rip. It's four inches wider than it needs to be. Once ripped, I'll re-do it in the correct size because it will be a gorgeous summer sweater in the white and cream Cotolina and aqua blue ribbon.
You'll probably hate me for this, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I am a beginner knitter and have run across this pattern for a bag (which I love) and have no idea what it is asking me to do here: "Cast off knitwise 60 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows. 12st." I understand the cast off part, but what does it mean by "2 rows." I have gone to nearly every knitting website in the world and not one has been helpful. Please forgive my intrusion of your amazing website with my silly question.
Thanks for your time!
Hi Tabetha!
What it means is:
next row: cast off 1st 60 sts., knit to end.
next row: cast off 1st 60 sts., knit to end.
You now have 12 sts.
Hope this helps!
I recently had to frog but it wasn't anything as traumatic as what you've been through. Hang in there! I have a Strauch skeinweinder/swift, BTW, and I can't recommend it highly enough. On to bigger and better projects! Good for you!
Once again, Alison you have inspired me. I'm taking a hard look at my projects and thinking about what I should frog and do over.
Two questions: Is it too late to join the rip-along? I can think of at least three things I will probably rip out (now that you've given me courage). And, do I have to have a new project in mind to be a part of your rip-along? It may take me a while to think of something new.
Okay, I'm going to rip too. It makes me feel like a quitter but I HATE my vegan fox. I'm only about a quarter of the way through but I hate everything about it. I hate how the yarn looks; I hate trying to use three slippery novelty yarns together, I hate the shape. It looked so cute in the picture and other knitters have made fabulous ones but now I must come to terms with my own fox failure. It must be ripped.
