what'cha gonna do?

What'cha gonna do when your momma won't wear hats? I made my mom a hat and mitten set last Christmas that she's never taken out of the box. But, ma, it's soooo cold! She said she might wear something larger and looser, so I started on a big hat with the Rowanspun Chunky I got out of the stash box. Will she like it? Stay tuned next week...

And what'cha gonna do when your new yarn just keeps calling to you? The chickie masala peace fleece simply won't wait. So I swatched it up and searched through all my patterns to find something to knit now. And we're off!

(Wow, I'm actually the first one to post a comment--given how many comments you get, I think that's an accomplishment!) Wasn't it disappointing that your Mom didn't wear your hat and mitten set? Many many years ago I knit a sweater for my Dad. He never wore it. My Mom finally gave it back to me and told me to knit a vest instead, because he'd never wear the sweater. I still have the sweater but haven't done anything to it because whenever I look at it I get a little dad. Hmmm maybe that's another thing to rip!

That is a lovely sweater. Can't wait to see it worked up in that lovely yellow peace fleece!

Woops! Sorry, I meant to say that I get a little "sad."

That's a great sweater. I need to do something like that next. I'm to the point where I only knit for people if they tell me exactly what they want.

That pattern and the Peace Fleece are great matches for each other.

The Chickie sweater will be very nice. I don't know how you keep track of all the different things you are knitting or decided what to work on each day when they are all screaming "Knit Me" at you. I am down to 3 things on the needles now plus the Must Have which will be started this weekend as the pattern arrived last night.

I made my mother a felted mitten and Rockstar looking scarf but out of mohair and wool set for Christmas. She actually wears them when it is below 30 outside.

I love that yellow P. F.!
And hey- that kueryon hat & mitts set IS cool! Too bad your mom won't wear it. :-(

Get that hat and those mittens back--they look great on you. My favorite mittens of all-time are a pair I made for my sister and then she moved to Florida. Whenever I put them on I think, "what was I thinking giving them to her?" I'm all about selfish knitting these days!

Oooh...nice cardigan choice!

About your mom...if the new hat doesn't work...what about a mobius scarf or one of those hood/scarf combos? I owned one once that I absolutely loved but lost one new year's eve. I've never seen a pattern for one, but if you know what I am talking about then perhaps you can design one =)

Alison,

I followed your blog to Pea's blog but it wouldn't let me register as it didn't like my email. The only thing I know about Banff is that it is a place in Canada. My sister went skiing up there a few years ago and said it was gorgeous.

Is it too late to join the Banff along. I've ordered the yarn, got my upsized pattern and will soon be all set to go...

"I caaaaaan't saaaay no!"

(I now have that song from Oklahoma! stuck in my head..)

Hi again,
As a pretty amazing coincidence, I just posted a picture of this cardigan on my new site three days ago! I am also thinking about making it. I have to order the book first. I'll be interested in seeing how it goes for you!
