baby (sweater) factory

First let me say that yes, I realize that I don't need another active project right now. Now let me say this, BUT.... my advanced beginners knitting class started last night and I thought I'd take the opportunity to swatch for a baby sweater along with my students. I do have two other baby sweaters to make for friends who are expecting and I picked up some wonderfully soft Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in the loveliest pink last weekend for the next one. So why not?! I plan to make the Daisy sweater from Pipsqueaks. Intarsia flowers - yes!

I haven't been neglecting the original tiny-gauged baby sweater, though. Here's the body, now with yellow border and one sleeve. Getting closer!

The baby sweater looks beautiful! I like the colors you chose :) The daisy sweater is adorable as well. I'd love to knit one for my little girl...as soon as I finish the ten other projects I've got piled up around here ;)

I love it. I am getting ready to make a wrap style in blue chenille. So soft! Maybe I should make one in my size too?

a factory indeed!!! :)

I've been pondering the daisy sweater for my little one as well--but am leery of the intarsia daisies, no matter how cute they are. All those ends--sigh. Please keep us posted on how it goes!

What a difference the top border has made. It's the perfect finish.

What a lucky baby to receive this sweater! You've incented me to finish a similar sweater I made for my daughter -- I only need to add the I-cord ties (I like your color combination and sweater better).

All I can say is cute, cute, cute! I have the Daisy pattern... I will admire from afar and maybe convince myself I need to make that... in addition to the 5 WIPs I have right now!!

First I mut say I love reading your blog, it always makes me happy.

I am really liking the sweater, I am sure you mentioned the pattern source but I missed it. Thanks.

First comes the baby sweater factory, then comes the baby . . . ;) One more sleeve and then the loops! (I think you'll be happy with the sewn loops. Who needs a crochet hook when you have a sewing needle?) Believe it or not, a friend had a baby this summer and she named her . . . DAISY. Yes, I should be a good friend and knit the Daisy sweater for her. But intarsia??? I.don't.think.so. :)

Hey, just wanted to point out that the Banff-along link for Maggie is a little messed up. I'm really enjoying watching everyone work on this project though! Myself, I working on Topsecret (from the very first issue).

I love reading your blog - it's my favorite. I learned to knit last month and am loving it!! Where can I find the pattern for the adorable wrap-around sweaters that you've made? I'd love to make one for my 2 1/2 year old?

Thanks!

Amy, I know what you mean - I'm practically buried in wips here!

Chris, I think an adult wrap around style sweater would be great. I hope you make it!

Rita and Lisa, the pattern for the kimono-style baby sweater is from Rowan Junior. I'm so glad you enjoy my blog! Thanks for commenting. :)

Hi Alison,

The baby sweater is just wonderful! So glad you keep us updated. As for me, Banff is at 60% and awaiting more yarn.
