bottoms up!

click to sign up!

After a few failed attempts last year, I had to admit that I could not bucket (remember?), but now that Bonne Marie has come up with a one-piece design and Becky has restarted her bucket-along, I'm gonna give it another try. Bottoms up hats coming up! While in NYC, I picked out some Manos Cotton Stria (at KnitNY) for a summer white bottoms up bucket hat for myself.

And if I succeed, there'll be more buckets in the works. My (apparently psychic!) Secret Pal sent me cotton yarns perfect for bucket hats. Thanks, Pal! There's even a white skein that's very similar to my Manos Cotton, so I think I'll make the boys matching bucket hats. Too cute. If that doesn't get me to bucket, then nothing will.

i'm in for the bucket along...i had purchased the pattern about a year ago and haven't knit it yet because i couldn't understand the instructions (nothing to do with the way they are written, i'm just not good at reading patterns)....can you bring it on sunday?

I'm anxious to see how your Manos bucket turns out. I finished mine over the weekend and it was a flop. I think the softness of the yarn requires it to be knitted at a tighter gauge than the pattern calls for.

If you are successful though, than I'll know it was just me.

Glad you got the yarn! I was hoping you could use it for the boys since it is easily washable and such. I know it's not "the good stuff" but I thought it was practical (and the Cottonease was recommended by Bonne Marie herself). Hope you enjoy it!

I liked making the bottom up bucket, it was fast and easy. I made a wool felted one with Cascade 220 for winter and it was my favorite hat. I think I will make cotton one's for the whole family this summer.

Hooray for buckets! I have to get my act in gear and make one too. I hope your tummy is feeling better today!

I'm assuming your tummy ache is gone now? Hope so. Looking forward to hearing how you like the cotton Manos--it's the new stuff right?

Matching bucket hats for the boys? That is going to be too cute for words!

That cotton looks interesting. It looks like it has a texture similar to Mission Falls Cotton. Can't wait to see this one knitted up...
