pieces of a sweater

Some front and back pieces of my Verena sweater mocking me. Until yesterday.

After a dozen tries at producing an even crochet seam that didn't look like a right knotted mess, I finally got it. I'm not even sure what I did differently this time. Perhaps my tension with the hook was better or my sense of where to make the next stitch had improved. Maybe it was sheer desperation. It doesn't matter. It worked. Something worked!

Presenting Frankenfront.

Oh, I'm so glad that you finally cracked it! I can't wait to see how this jigsaw sweater looks all crocheted together. Now go and get the rest of those lovely pieces seamed before the knitting / crochet gods smile on someone else!

It's beautiful! Way to go. All that odd energy must have been a vortex of learning and relaxation energy. I ripped my knitting about 5 times yesterday. good going, sticktuitiveness!

I guess now you are a better hooker! :)
It looks wonderful. If you ask me, which clearly you DID NOT, it was worth all the time and trouble! I love the soft color too! I'm sure it will look wonderful on!

It looks wild! Can't wait to see it on. :)

YAY! It looks great.

The sweater is beautiful Alison. Your crochet looks good to me. I cant wait to see the finished product. I think you are one fast knitter. By the way I fininshed my bucket hat. After the brim it did get easier. It is enormous though. I will start another one today but will make it 2 sizes smaller.

Good. I was afraid we would have to hold you back from commiting hari kari with a straight US 5 needle.

Jeez. The evil looped path of crochet. Down the street from me there is an assisted housing place for intellectually challenged women. There is a very nice woman who lives there and she has an intellectual ability equivilent to a 4 year old. The woman churns out the most complex lace blankets you have ever seen. Me? 4 hours, internet assistance, and a book to put an edging on a sweater. Damn crochet. Good for you.

impeccable as usual! I am sure the sweater will look fabulous. enjoy the sun.

Looking good!
I saw Erika Knitght's Simple Crochet book yesterday- that looks so cool. Methinks I need it......

Hooray for your summer tweed victory! I love the finished look of the yarn but it can be a real bear to work with. Given it's brittle quality, I bet it was a real challenge to crochet. Now I've got another top that I'd love to add to my list :-)

Alison Hanselstein: It's alive. It's alive!
The Verena Creature: What kind of yarn is it in which I am comprised? Good yarn? Bad yarn? Novelty Yarn? And what stitch?
Alison Hanselstein: Linen and rayon. Nothing more. Stockinette Stitch.
The Verena Creature: You're wrong. I see crochet.
The Verena Creature: Did you know I knew how to crochet? From which part of me did this knowledge reside? From this mind? From these hands? From this heart? And knitting and crochet. Not so much things learned as things remembered.
Alison Hanselstein: Well…I underestimated your...I mean...my talents.
The Sweater Creature: Did you ever consider the consequences of your actions? You made me, and you left me to be seamed. Who am I? A knitted creature? A crocheted creature?
Alison Hanselstein: You? I don't know.
The Verena Creature: And you think that I am evil.

Ooh - how cool! I tried to learn to crochet last weekend, and I have years to go before making something so amazing!

Looks great! What an odd little sweater you're conjuring up. Hurry and finish so we can see what it'll look like...(hear the whip crack?)

This is such an interesting pattern. I just love watching it come together. It's so cool how the pieces meet with the crochet. Glad you were able to get it work so beautifully. Can't wait to see you sport it!
