Oooh, I love the color and the neckline is very cool! I got a decent start on my Linen Drape Fair Isle Goes Round on the vacation so hopefully the momentum will continue. Yours is such a pretty shade of blue.

i love your maggie. how many balls of linen drape will the top take you to finish? i have four linen drape, but love your top and my try to find more.

Lookin' good! Love that color, all my drape is so bright, alas I am not getting anymore.

That's beautiful, Alison. The neckline is awesome.

Wonderful, Alison! It's really looking great.

That colour is absolutely gorgeous, and I love the neckline!

I've been eyeing some linen drape on ebay (I had a project in mind ages ago), but I don't dare start anything else right now. Or buy more yarn!

I'm still plugging away on my Lola top in Linen Drape. I'm getting close to finishing my first piece--the back.

Glad to hear happy updates on the other linen drape projects out there. I'm really enjoying mine! Especially now that I know it'll fit. :)

Laurie, I think my linen drape version of maggie will take 6 full balls of the yarn. I've seen linen drape tank patterns that usuall call for 4-5 balls. I'm hoping to sqeeze a tank out of the linen drape that Rowan should be sending me as my resubscription present!

Yumalicious!

Ooh! Beautiful top! It looks great as a shell, doesn't it? Very drapey yet nicely tailored. Another fabulous Alison piece!

My linen drape tank is finished! Woo hoo! A very fabby knit along idea!

at the risk of posting a less than original comment...the neckline is indeed spectacular. it's the first thing i noticed--after the cleavage :)

Wow Alison, it looks great! The ribbinh and the neck are wonderful. I just can't seem to get gauge so I am looking for another top to knit with my linen drape. I'm going to give the swatch another go tonight. Is there something special I am supposed to know about this drape?

Posted by: froggy at July 13, 2004 6:51 PM

That fits you perfectly. I can't wait until you finish it.

Posted by: Lynette at July 13, 2004 7:32 PM

wow gawgeous colour! the photo's so soft and dreamy and the colour looks sooo nice- I'd be tempted to keep it as a tank cause the ribbing makes it looks so light. You are such a talent!

Hi, i love the maggie top and have some of this colour stashed. Where is the pattern from?

Posted by: cathy at July 13, 2004 9:39 PM

Maggie looks wonderful! I love the neckline and the color is great... how is the LD to knit with?

Posted by: Holly at July 13, 2004 10:35 PM

Thanks everyone! I still have to get some ribbon for the ties at the top of that lovely neckline.

Katherine, I really was tempted to leave it as a tank! But I've got one sleeve done already and they are so cute. They're very short sleeves. I'm so excited to finish them and sew 'em in!

Holly, I like the linen drape. It's light and easy to knit with. I had a few problems with splitting the yarn in the beginning, but once I got used to the yarn, that little annoyance cleared itself up. Froggy, I got a gauge I liked on US3's. Since the pattern I used was written for a slightly different gauge, I knew I didn't have to match their gauge. I had to do some extra math to make mine work, but I love it when the pressure's off and I don't have to make someone else's gauge.

Cathy, the pattern is in Rowan magazine #31. It's available to order as an individual pattern directly from the Rowan website here.

I actually have the front of the tank top done in my linen drape. Now I just need to cast on for the back. I'm hoping that I can squeak by with the yarn I have, I don't think there's any more in my colour.

Wow! I love everything about Maggie. That neckline is too cool.

Posted by: Laura at July 14, 2004 7:26 AM

Ack! I haven't started...I do plan to swatch very soon though. I have four balls (two white, two blue) I received as a free gift when I subscribed at Rowan. I don't love the placemat pattern I received with it, so I found a cute cropped tank in Rowan's free pattern archive from a couple years ago. It's called "Cruise", which I will probably do up in stripes.

Maggie looks great so far. Love the neckline. Fits perfectly.

Posted by: Eilene at July 14, 2004 11:34 PM

what a lovely color! I love the neckline.

Posted by: jessie at July 15, 2004 11:25 PM

That is one sexy top! Such a pretty color, too.

[I just got back from vacation, so I'm binging on all your wonderful entries in one go. Hee!]
