nyc anyone?

Yes, I'm coming to town again! Just a few hours and I'm off to visit my mom and a few of the greatest knitting shops the big city has to offer. I'm planning on stopping by Purl and Downtown Yarns on Saturday. Anyone else in town up for an afternoon shopping spree? Or how's about a little knitting and pastries at KnitNY on Sunday?

Okay, most important question - what am I bringing with me to knit? Habu, baby! Don't you just love saying "habu"? It sounds so hip, like some cool word that beatniks might use. Anyhoo, after the disasterous beginning of the R2 tank, I cast on for my habu tank.

The back's turning out a wee bit small, but it should be workable. I don't have tons of the habu yarn, so it's probably good for the top to be a bit small. I'll add a few more stitches to the front, where it really matters, and all should be well. I like how the yarn is knitting up. It's easy to work with - no problems with that thin red thread snagging or splitting. It feels nice to work with and it makes fabulously even little stitches - another surprise given that the red thread is so randomly wrapped around the white core. It would seem that these Habu folks really know their yarns! I may have to stop by their shop again.

That sure is a nice fabric the Habu makes, I love the textured feeling it has. Have a great time in NY!

That looks so neat knitted up. Did that yarn come in blue too? Someday maybe I'll spring for the Habu sample book....someday.

Have fun in NYC!

Alison,
Enjoy NYC. I'm in town myself for a few days, and I am visiting Habu today (Friday). Sadly, I'm heading north Saturday, so we'll cross paths. Enjoy your visit!

Have a great time. Will you have to buy more of the red/white? I am hoping Habu will be at Stitches East and plan on buying alot then. **fingers crossed**

Oh, I like the look of the Habu! Much more to my liking than the paper yarn. I always think I'll feel like I'm wearing a shredded doctor's gown. Don't need that!

If the weather is lousy this weekend, I will be staying in town, so post where you'll be and when if you have internet access (or email me and I can give you my #), and maybe I can meet up with you!

Oh wow! That yarn is just fabulous! I love how it knits up, very unique and wonderful. Hmmmm I might have to swing by Habu someday. Have fun in the city! If I didn't have a date with my piles of mess I would love to meet up. But it is just getting too out of control :(

Hey there-
I'm a New Yorker, so let me know if you're doing a little knit-in--I'd love to join! Also, let me know if you need any suggestions about places to go or things to do--I work in the theatre, so I usually have a good sense of what's worth seeing. I enjoy your blog a bunch, so it's sort of the least I could do.

That yarn is really nice. I love the two-tone. Can't wait to see the tank.

Oh! You are going again? Lucky you! Lucky NYC!
I love the Habu yarn more now that it's knit up! It looks great and is so different! that will make a great tank!
And I think us beatniks should snap when we sit crosslegged and chant HABU.
:)
Have fun!

I'm jealous about your trip to more yarn stores! I love the way Habu is knitting up. Please take pictures of your purchases this weekend (because I know there will be some!).

Aw, so sad that the tank made with Habu will be too small for this Shamu! ;)

Looks like fun yarn---have a great time in NYC. I would have to rent a U-Haul to bring all my purchases home!

Psst... I made a tea cup! Come by and take a look. BTW, I love the Habu.

Hi Alison. I'm home from vacation, and still no Linen Drape sweater.
I bought some yarn from the Habu booth at TKGA in Mancester this weekend. They're going to have to ship it to me because I am such a yarn pig. I bought some silk for their "french sleeved cardigan", and I am trying to figure out what I can make in Bamboo laceweight. I love every last fiber they have. I even like the mylar! Think of me.
