new york knitalong

All set for a kamikaze knitalong born during my recent trip to NYC.

I'm such an IK girl!

While we were shopping last weekend, Jenn suggested we pick up some handpainted yarn and try out Interweave Knits pooling colors scarf. We all know that I don't like variegated yarns, but I do love stripes. So if you got a way to turn beautiful handpainted yarn into stripes, I'm there! I picked a skein of Schaefer Anne that has subtle red shades, just in case I can't get the pooling colors to work, it'll still be something I could handle. Jenn has her yarn and Jackie has some Schaefer Anne on the way and will be joining us shortly. Anyone else in??

And just because I missed them so much while I was gone, I ambushed the boys with the camera when I got back.

don't these cuties deserve another handknitted sweater?

I just bought some Anne yesterday. I haven't taken photos yet but was wondering what to do with it. I was thinking socks but am not sure yet (need an inpiring pattern of any kind).

I definitely want to try the pooling colors scarf. I've got to find some yarn, perhaps in my stash, or if not I'm sure I can find some at the LYS!

what are those bracelets on their writsts? are they out of the "big house" on a work-release program?

Yes, they really do deserve new handknitted sweaters. Every child deserves garnment that is made with love and especially for them! What are you thinking of making for them?

Yay, more people in the pool!

Good eye, Lisa. I was wondering if anyone would notice those. They're little motion recorders that they wore on their wrists and ankles for two days for a twin study. Here's a close-up of them wearing them last year.

I'm definitely in for the Pool scarf. I bought some Anne last winter and it's been a lovely yarn in search of a project.

I just stumbled across this blog and when looking at your picture in the 7/29 entry I thought, "Hey, that looks just like the work I saw a woman knitting at the tot lot last week!" And then scrolled back up and saw the picture of your boys. A-ha! It *was* you! I was knitting something there, too (while keeping an eye out on my own blond toddler boy), and didn't approach you because you looked like you had your hands full both literally and figuratively.

I'm in for the pool knitalong! I think I'm an accessories only knitter for a while with the new baby. Alison, you give me hope for the future, since you're knitting with twins and I only have the one!
