"giraffe, giraffe"

We here at the blue blog baby sweater factory have officially been shamed back to the production lines by the super-productivity of others. First of all, it's closing in on the end of summer and everyone I know who is pregnant is just about to pop! Then I saw fellow Knitsmith, Gina, who has just finished four baby sweaters in the last couple of months for friends who are expecting (unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me when I saw her - but trust me, FOUR!). Okay, okay, I gotta pick up that phildar coat and finish it up.

a little duplicate stitch

and blanket stitch too

Now I just have to sew the giraffe patch on the back. So riddle me this, if a cow says moo, and a duck says quack, what does a giraffe say? "Finish me!"

Though normally silent, giraffe calves bleat and make a mewing call, cows seeking lost calves bellow, and courting bulls may emit a raucous cough. Giraffes also give alarm snorts, and moaning, snoring hissing, and flutelike sounds have been reported...So chances are, it is bellowing to be finished...

Oh, that is perhaps the cutest giraffe I've ever seen. Can't wait to see it all sewn together!

Indeed. What *does* a giraffe say? Hmmm... Even if your giraffe is a mute, he looks fabulous! Pinch his cheeks.

What a cute giraffe and such neat blanket stitch too, it puts mine to shame! Good luck on beating the 2 hour finishing that is needed after the 20 second knitting of that jacket, its worth it..

I was duped by your duplicate stitches! It's looks great and I love your blanket stitching. Must learn how to do that some time soon :o)

Wow. Did you really render the entire giraffe in duplicate stitch? It looks great!

Thanks folks. I love the little giraffe. He makes me smile.

Nah, it's not all duplicate stitch, just the cheeks and eyes and such. The orange was done in intarsia. Here's a post with a picture of the patch pre-duplicate stitch.
