stash for september
What could be better than a call from the yarn store saying "your yarn is in"?!

cotton angora, yummm...
Here's the Debbie Bliss yarn that I need to make mom's Jess sweater. All lovely in army green. I would never have picked out this color when just looking at the balls on display, but when knitted up, like the sweater Purl had on display or the models in the book, it looks really good. Much more like a neutral than like army fatigues!
Okay, I'll tell you what's better than your yarn order arriving, the store having just enough of another yarn that you were looking for.

Silk Garden, double yummm...
While in NYC, my mom and I spied the awesome Klaralund pattern in Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton's new book. And what do you know, but Wendy and Froggy start up a Klaralund-along for September AND my LYS had exactly the right number of skeins in stock for me. Count me in!
September's shaping up to be a great month for knitting. But first I gotta make it through my August knits. The Olympics to the rescue! Karen suggested an Olympic knitalong, which she was calling "a Herculean Effort". I wanted to join, but couldn't imagine starting another project now. Then I thought, if I really want to make a Herculean effort, I could try to finish up all the projects that are right on the verge of being finished. That's the giraffe jacket, the habu tank, the daria bag, and ava. I got two weeks. Let the games begin!

good luck! it's funny, i was thinking a more herculean effort for me would be *not* starting another project! but i think your idea of finishing a bunch is much more practical :)
Go, Alison! Go, Alison! I'm still wavering on Klaralund ~ need to read the pattern ~ but I too have some DB cotton angora in that shade, to make an aran for the Wee One. Subtle tones a nice change for a girl most often seen in (handed-down) pinks!
i bought that same color of the cotton angora on my trip to the UK...
Wow! your knitting with Noro?? I would participate in the "a Herculean Effort" but it said you can't start before Olympics??? I will have to ask ...
That sounds like a great idea. I would like to finish my GE Cardigan and Candy Sam. Two weeks, huh? I think I can do it.
Yay, Alison! You're joining the Klaralund-Along!
I'm in for the Klaralund-along also. What colorway are you using? I'm using #8 (the one shown in the picture - it's really my favorite of all the Silk Garden colors). I just realized this morning that I need to get one more skein. So off to the yarn store I go (well sometime this week I will go).
I like the Cotton Angora that you chose. I'm knitting up Grace from the Cotton Angora pattern book now using the pink color of cotton angora. I'm looking forward to cuddling up with my cardigan in the Fall (or more likely Winter - since each row of the fronts call for switching needles mid-row and it's making me crazy. I've been drawn to other projects due to this).
What is the other stash for? I noticed a pinkish hank (is that Habu or something new) and some more on the top? Inquiring minds want to know.
Glad to hear that others are using the same shade of the dbca as me. I noticed that DB uses it quite a lot and it looks lovely!
Lisa, I love the patterns in that book. I'll have to stop by your site to check out your progress. The yarn feels fabulous doesn't it?! And I am also using Silk Garden #8 for my Klaralund. I like those colors a lot and my other Noro sweater has all the pinks and purples so I didn't want to go that direction again. I can't wait till the starting bell on that one, can you?
love the klaralund...can you please bring the pattern on sunday so i can take a looky-looky and decide if i want to do it...i have many "uncommitted" skeins of noro kureyon that might work.
