Starting October 1st. The sweaters should be done just in time to give to your loved ones on Christmas morning (wink, wink).
[Updated: The link to McA direct seems to have stopped working - it must have been an older page -, so I have removed it and replaced it with the Colorway link - of course, this could be outdated as well. Here's the original McA link, in case you wish to ask them about availability.]

Thanks, Linda! Great info. I added the link for non-UK customers, so some of us over here can consider it as well. I'm very tempted!
Just wondering, who are you knitting Weaslys for? The boys?
Oh yes, Helene, I'll be making "H" sweaters for the boys. It's about time I knit something for them again! And as our last name does start with "H"....
Oh, I am so doing this...I'll make an H for myself though. Forget all those other people I was going to make things for Christmas. This is much more important. :)
I have a question though; does anyone have the pattern yet? Because I was thinking about just buying the kit, but I don't know what size I'd need. If anyone has it and could just tell me the sizes, I'd really appreciate it.
this is so awesome! i have to think of someone to make this for. love love ron. what a great idea!
Sure Heather, the Rowan pattern has sizes ranging from chest/bust 16 in. to 34 in. So it's mostly sized for kids and small women. But it looks like the company that Linda linked to - that sells the yarn that was used in the movie sweaters - does sell kits for larger sizes. So they must be using a different or expanded pattern. I'd guess that the sizes they list are inches around the chest/bust. I'd love to see what the pattern looks like that they send. I wonder how different it is from the Rowan one....
I've looked around on that site, and I can't see anywhere where it says it is the official yarn or pattern. I only saw that claim on the site that sells the Rowan pattern. Am I missing it?
Hmmm, Laura, that was what Linda said. I didn't read the site that closely before. Here's what they say:
"The blockbuster 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' movie features the sweaters which were made from knitting yarn from The YarnWarehouse. The sweaters worn by the young actors were knitted by Pride and Joy in Moray using wool spun on our traditional machines here at New Lanark. Now you too have the chance to knit the same popular Harry Potter sweaters, sure to be popular with children and grandchildren."
Thanks. I have no idea where that copy is. I hunted for it. Thanks for taking the time though. What are you going to knit it with? The Rowan felted tweed?
Cool, Melly!
Ahhh, Laura, I think it's only on the page for UK customers. Check out that one - it's the "Yarn Warehouse" link in the post. :)
Oh I'd like to join! I just ordered a kit, and I'm going to make an H sweater for my son for Christmas.
thanks Alison! I appreciate it!
Can't wait to cast on!
Now, about those socks...
Hi Alison!
I'd love to join this knitalong! Instead of an "R" I'm going to put an "RJ" on it for my nephew. :)
Thanks for hosting!
Stella
I'm checking whether my friend in Scotland can get me a kit as I don't have Worldpay; if not I suppose I can modify the Yankee Knitter 30 pattern with an R (for my Kindergarten boy whose name starts with, well, guess :-)
I measured him at a 24" chest, so am debating what size kit to get - up to 26, or 28-32. Any thoughts?
cheers,
Katie
Count me in! I would like to make one for my very own Harry (we call him Henry though). I ordered the kit and will wait for its arrival.
Mattie
Ack! I put the wrong internet address... it is really http://fiberevolution.blogspot.com.
Sorry about that
This is too cool to pass up. Count me in. I ordered the pattern and I will be making the H sweater for myself. Thanks for hosting.
Glad to have some more weasley knitalongers!
Katie, how much bigger do you want to have the sweater? Adding more than 4 inches for ease and growth would be a lot! But it might be good to have the extra ball of yarn. You could still knit a slightly smaller size - maybe you could end up knitting something like 27" by adjusting your gauge a little.
Thanks Alison. I think that's what I'll do. Count me in for the Ron-Along (easier to say than Weasley-Along, and Weas-Along sounds like an asthma attack...:)
I want to join this (although I have been a bad Bannfer and am finally finishing up the last sleeve. I really hope I am wearing it before the end of October!)-but will make at least an 'N' for my son and an 'E' for my daughter.
I need to either get the pattern or adapt the Yankee knitter as someone suggested...
I'm in. I've been wanting a Weasley sweater for the longest time!
I'm game! I'll be starting late, but not too much! Thanks Alison!
Just a quick correction to my earlier comment - Worldpay is an ecommerce site, it's not like Paypal. You don't need a special account with them to order from the Yarn Warehouse - the Worldpay site lets you charge it to your credit card. No figuring out dollars/pounds, yay! My kit is on its way.
