I certainly hope you didn't believe me.
I started my big day in NYC by doing a wee bit of shopping before meeting the gals for knitting. I was in search of the perfect yarn to make a bright orange scarf to match the orange lining of my winter coat (see it peeking out in the picture from yesterday?). I was hoping to find some orange cashmere at School Products, but no luck. So I dashed over to Yarn Connection and found so many fabulous things that I was late meeting my nyc knitbuds. I left the store with two balls of scrumptuous Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superchunky in the perfect orange and ran down to meet everyone at KnitNY. They were eager to inspect my purchases and then asked to see "the sock". Although everyone was very supportive about it and tried to get me to pick it up, I only wanted my new Cashmerino. Did I mention that I also bought the needles I needed so that I could start knitting my scarf right away? Heh, heh. So I started and didn't stop until I finished it on the bus on the way back.

Alison, I found Ticotez Calin no. 3 at Threadbear. I will need help with the French. My brother learned it in school, but I doubt they covered knitting vocabulary! If you ever need help with Spanish (are there any amazing Spanish or Latino designers?) let me know {grin}. Also, Sophies Yarns has a few Rowan HP patterns. I put a link to them on my page. There are a few more yarn shops that are supposed to get back to me, so if anyone is still looking for one, I can help. Have fun with the Cashmerino!
Love the suitcase pic. So, apparently there is good yarn shopping in NYC, hmmm?
I've seen your picture posted around parts of knit blogland. Looks like you had a great time. It doesn't look like you brought many clothes with you. Or maybe you mailed the clothes back and packed the yarn. ;-)
Wow, you finished it in one sitting!! It's beautiful, and I'll bet soooo cushy and comfy.
Oh yeah, Lynette, I made sure to pack light so I'd have plenty of room for yarn. My clothes fit neatly into a little less than half of the suitcase. I had no problem filling the rest! ;0)
Too funny! Your post made me feel much better about the lacking of knitting I have been getting done on my list of gifts!
I've finished Banff! Thanks for jump starting that knit along - I now have 1 (yes, you read it right) one sweater for winter. I live in a Canada and love it cold...Here is the link:

btw - your scarf is beautiful...
Mmmm, I have been thinking about a scarf and I have been thinking about the Debbie Bliss Superchunky, but I have yet to really decide. Your scarf looks scrumptious, very much the weight I ws thinking of, what a great match for your jacket lining too!
Tuesday is knitalong day, and YES this time I have a photo (+ a problem)...
Very nice! I also like the light blue hat - it picks up the color of your eyes.
And to think I knew that scarf when it was just a slipknot and a skein! Sniff... That was FAST! Amazing how inspiring a blustery NYC day can be when it comes to making knitwear.
I LOVE your scarf and have two skeins of super chunky cashmerino. Would this be enough? I'm a novice knitter. Would you be willing to share your "pattern"? Thank you!
It was great meeting you on Saturday! Thanks for being so welcoming. The scarf looks perfect. I like the hat too.
