a knit hit list
Just to balance out the sh*t list.
First I gotta mention banff and sooty mango, my two favoritest sweaters of all, which by the way were both results of major reknitting (I cut the ribbing off of sooty mango and reknit it and banff was knit out of the yarn from a failed cardigan!).
Next, these socks, one of the first pairs I ever knit. The recipient recently hinted that she would love a couple more pairs just like them. When they ask for more, it's definitely a hit!
Finally, there's nothing like adorable babies to restore your faith in your knits.

Happy baby in daisy sweater.

Happy baby in mya sweater.

And it's not technically a KNIT hit, but I get a kick out of this recently finished (and now pompon-ed) crocheted beret that I made for charity. B. let me take his picture wearing it, but made me promise that he could see the picture when it was done. When he looked at the picture, he immediately smiled and said, "hey look, it's my blankie!" See the little bit of it in the corner?
We have a winner! The biggest knit hits of all have got to be my very first projects, the baby blankies for my boys.
I love knitting.

Alison - I just love seeing your boys and especially their love for their blankies. I crocheted a blankie for my niece who has the same attachment. It makes me smile every time that I think about it. Great projects!
Girl, your one talented knitter! My favorite knit projects of yours are:
- the two baby sweaters shown,
- the giraffe sweaters for the boys, and
- the other giraffe sweater that you gave as
a gift w/blanket stitch edging (too cute).
Keep knitting!
adorable. I think all of your knitting is beautiful, though.
How cute that he spotted the blankie in the corner of that photo! I also love the 2 Phildar jackets you made fr the boys - that is one of my all time BlueBlog faves..
Hi, Alison. I'm not sure if I've ever posted a comment, but your blog is one of my favorites. This post gave me all kinds of warm fuzzies. It's so sweet to remember how the the love put in to knitting passes on to its recipient. My favorites of your knits are the Klaralund, the boys' giraffe sweaters, and the charity beret (ok, so it's not a knit. But I really want to make one for myself!)
I'm a pretty new knitter and just wanted to say thanks for all the inspiration!
You and your boys are so sweet! And oh boy do we need a little sweetness today.
what a fun knitting retrospective. i really enjoyed looking at all your beautiful work. banff and sooty mango both have deep ribbing, which i love, i'm wondering if that looks good or icky on a long torso (me).
I agree, sooty mango is one of your coolest knits, just love that neck in contrast colour. And until now Elisabeth was another one of my favourites, but now I guess she'll R.I.P. :(
I also love your berry hotties, and of course, everything with giwaffes on!
That is a hit list indeed. I have gone and looked at the sooty mango archive a number of times since you first pointed me at it, but I was unsure if you ended up actually wearing it post fix. It's great to hear that it became a favourite! And isn't it amazing what kids notice in a photo? i am endlessly amazed by what Isabelle points out.
Twins! Oh my goodness - that must be a blast to knit for! Have you ever tried anything from Zoe Mellor's "Double Knits"?
I've just started Banff, so I'm glad to hear a report of someone else that loves it! I've been knitting for 5 years, but have never made a single thing for myself. The banff is going to be the first thing that I'm keeping for me!
What do you know, I made Daisy my self, but I did find it a lot of work.
