tuesday is knitalong day

Weasley knitters!

Amy Lu finished her weasley and it's beautiful. And Leigh has done an amazing job on the "H" of her second weasley.

Anyone finished with their Rowan pattern and interested in selling it, there are a few weasely-wannabe's who would LOVE to buy the pattern from you. Check out who's interested in the comments to this wednesday morning knitalong post.

Sockapaloozers!

Helene has finished the most gorgeous socks for her sock pal. Wow! Helene also suggests sending a few scrap pieces of the yarn you used for the socks to your sock pal in case they need to do any repairs later. Great idea, Helene.

You gotta see the special little blog Grauwal has made just for her sockapalooza sock progress. And what incredible socks she's making! She recommended the Knitting Zone to me as a good online source for all kinds of sock yarns. I still have to get some yarn for my sock pal, so meet you over there!

Other updates I've gotten: Elspeth reports that she has one sock finished, Sneak a peek at Kristel's beautiful sock in progress. It's blue!

And I love, love, love Christine's Good 'n Plenty socks. Christine is heading up the beginner's group, so don't forget to keep stopping by her site for tips on sock knitting. By the way, I just caught the sock knitting episode of Knitty Gritty on DiY yesterday. They've got some good info for beginners on their site, including pictures and a basic sock pattern, so follow the link and check it out.

Can I just say how much I am enjoying sending your quesitons on to your sock pals? It's really nice knowing that so many of you are out there trying to make something that your sock pal will really love. You rock! If you want to be more than a sock buddy to your sock pal, Timothy suggests getting an anonymous email account through yahoo or hotmail (like sockbuddy@hotmail.com) and visiting your sock pal's website to say hi or to write them if you have additional questions. I know lots of people have done this in the secret pals program and it's lots of fun.

Remember, send me your updates and post them here in the comments. I wanna hear how you're doing!

February Fixers!

Take a look at that list of people who will be ripping and reworking knits next month! Now, that's inspirational. We've even got Bonne Marie, who's teaches us every day how to "boss our knits around"! You know, there's at least three Klaralund's biting the dust and even a crochet project that's joining the fixing fray. Neato!

I would also love a copy of the pattern if anyone is interested in selling!

Thanks!

I would LOVE to buy a weasley sweater pattern! I know the archived comments are closed now but if anyone wants to dump their pattern I would be more than happy to buy it--real $$.

My Sockapalooza socks are my daily lunch time knitting project. I am nearly done with the cuff on sock #1.

Posted by: Karin at January 25, 2005 9:46 AM

I've got some progress pictures posted on my blog today. The Anne is making a fabulous stripping pattern and I just finished working a new heel that came out better than any I've done before.

Posted by: Kate at January 25, 2005 10:04 AM

I'd love to buy one of the used patterns too! Maybe there'll be enough to go around!

Posted by: Wendi at January 25, 2005 10:10 AM

You wnat to knnow the progress on my socks? Ripping and ripping all over again. I tried about 5 patterns and three different yarns and still are not happy with it. Either the yarn or the pattern didnt match.
Finally yesterday I ordered some more yarn, guess where, at knitting zone. So I hope my american pattern will work with the original yarn. All german patterns were boring or to like twentie years ago.
So I hope I wont be the last one to start. I was nearly to through all my needles and yarns in the corner and never knit again. Poor people who read my blog, must be boring to read all the whining ;)

So I wait now for my yarn and hope to restart soon.

Its hard to see all the nice finished socks here at such a high standart.

Hope I can go with it.

Can you add me to the February fixers list? I said previously that I didn't have anything I needed to rip, but I found a pair of toe-up socks and a Bottoms Up Bucket that didn't turn out quite right. I might as well fix 'em while you guys are putting all that energy out there!

Posted by: Dani at January 25, 2005 10:21 AM

I'd love a used version of the Weasley pattern too! Send me an e-mail, and let me know what you'd like in return!

On the sockapalooza front... still waiting for my yarn. :(

One sock is almost finished and I should have a photo Thursday or Friday on my blog. I picked Twinketoes Salsa (Rainbow Ebay seller) and love the yarn. I'm using a Nancy Bush pattern from Folk Socks. Last night I also thought I'd send the leftovers along and all the pattern info, too.

Posted by: margene at January 25, 2005 11:53 AM

I'd love a pattern too, (~~widly waves her hand in the air!~~)If there are extras =) I'll pay $$

Posted by: Keri at January 25, 2005 12:35 PM

Ide love a Weasley pattern too!! Just e-mail me your price$

Posted by: Mary at January 25, 2005 12:58 PM

I'd like to be a February Fixer too.
One of our LYS has the Weasley pattern. www.hilltopyarn.com. No online ordering but you can give them a call.

Oh yeah...add me to the February Fixers...I just ripped out my favorite winter hat and reknit it cause it got stretched out over time to twice it's size, lol...I think I can make a SECOND hat out of what's leftover - how scary is that??? I'll be posting that tomorrow....LOL!

Posted by: Eklectika at January 25, 2005 2:04 PM

I'd love a Weasley pattern. I'm in the US, will pay $ or make you a pair of socks!

Posted by: Alison at January 25, 2005 2:06 PM

My first sockapalooza sock is chugging along - I'm almost ready to start doing the heel.

I think I have an extra Weasley pattern floating around - it's the not the Rowan one - but rather the Yarn Warehouse one.

And I've modified a pattern in the book Hip to Knit for an adult size Weasley, and I started mine this week.

Posted by: MA at January 25, 2005 2:10 PM

MA, can you share the modification for the Hip to Knit sweater?

Posted by: Alison at January 25, 2005 2:24 PM

Just a note to say that I'm still interested in buying this pattern off someone ... hopefully there will be enough to go around!

Posted by: Ruth at January 25, 2005 3:54 PM

Can I officially be added to the Fixer-uppers?! I can't wait to turn my Klaralund into something else!

Posted by: Stacey at January 25, 2005 4:35 PM

I'm also interested in getting a copy of the Weasley sweater pattern - is it available anywhere online, or do I have to prevail upon a generous and giving Weasley-alonger? Oh pretty please?

Posted by: Anne at January 25, 2005 4:42 PM

Hi! If anyone is interested in selling a Weasley Pattern, I'd be willing to buy it from you or buy you some yarn of equal value (my stash is very small).

Posted by: Annemarie at January 25, 2005 5:04 PM

I haven't started on my sockapalooza socks yet. I've got the yarn but can't decide on a pattern and need to finish a birthday sweater for my niece first. I'm trying very hard to resist the urge to start now especially when I see all the wonderful socks already knitted!

Posted by: Marie-france at January 25, 2005 6:17 PM

Hi Alison--I just put my sock update on my *brand-new* blog. Having fun with them (socks and blogs). And hey, add me to the Harry Potter pattern list...I have little hope, but I still am looking for one.

Posted by: Erika at January 25, 2005 10:36 PM

How do I join the Fix Is In group? Sounds like just what I need!

Posted by: Deb at January 25, 2005 10:50 PM

Sock update?
Well, I've found yarn and a pattern, and I've decided to work two socks in tandem on a single circular needle with magic loop.

Surprisingly, it's going well. Now, by well I mean that I've only had to rip and start over twice. I think this time might be a keeper.

So I've got about an inch of each sock... in a rib I'm not so sure of (K3 P1 -- what was I thinking?)... but it looks nice and even (FINALLY!)

Photos will be on my blog soon.

Posted by: Lindsay at January 25, 2005 11:14 PM

Sockapalooza update: I am at the heel of the first sock - I'll have to try and get one more ball of yarn, as I am worried that I will run out of yarn ... otherwise, I am making good progress!

Regards from Frankfurt/Germany.

Please add to me to your list of fixer-uppers!

Posted by: Erica at January 26, 2005 9:35 AM

I just ripped my sock pal sock for the third time yesterday and started with a third pattern. The third time better be a charm, I think I've found a pattern that I love for this yarn, I'm only a couple inches in on the cuff so we'll see how it goes. When I get some more length on the cuff I'll put some more pictures on my blog.

Posted by: Selena at January 26, 2005 10:26 AM

I'm done with my Sockapalooza pal's socks!! I've been sick, so it left me lots of free time to knit away. I used some lovely superwash merino and the cabled clog pattern from Cherry Hill yarns. You can see them at my blog!

Posted by: Suzie at January 26, 2005 11:40 AM

Somehow I didn't read blogs yesterday... Wonder what I was doing. :) Anyway, my first Sockapalooza sock is finished, but there isn't a picture yet as I'd need to borrow my housemate's feet. I might be able to finish by next week and post a picture then. :)

Posted by: Kristel at January 26, 2005 4:32 PM

Hi Alison

Can I join the Fixer Uppers too please? I have a few things that could definitely do with fixing, so this is just what I need.

Posted by: Mary at January 27, 2005 6:40 AM

Alison,

I've now got the sock yarn for my Sockapalooza pal, and now need the needles as I'm determined to do two on two! The pattern I have is a perfect match for the yarn I'm using.

I would love to join the February fixers - so many projects not finished ... one project that needs to be ripped (Point 5 is too beautiful to be the Yarn Girls sweater I made). Sign me up, please ...

I posted sock #1 on my blog today (sans toe) which will be there before bed tonight (and the whip cracks).

Posted by: Deb at January 28, 2005 12:44 AM

My favorite thing about your knitalongs is that they always introduce me to new talented knitters - esp. those folks in Europe. It's so great to get to know all of these fabulous people that it would be hard for me to find the time to search for.

Posted by: julia at January 29, 2005 8:32 AM

Add me to the Feb fixer uppers list too please. I have a few things that need some 'love'!

Another weasley wannabe looking for used pattern. Willing to trade or pay. Have traded before and have 100% rating at Ebay. TY

I really want my Rosedale United to be wearable. Do you have room for another February Fixer?

Posted by: Rae at January 30, 2005 6:52 PM

Well - my Sockapalooza sock progress is great! Since I'm moving, I'm trying to get these done early. I've finished sock number 1 (see my blog for a picture). I've made this pattern before, I loved it. This time around, I'm not sure. I'm going to pause for a bit before starting the second, to be sure that my buddy is getting the perfect sock!
