what's this?

Why, it's my boys, who gave up afternoon naps at least a year ago, passed out on the sofa in the middle of the day! Must have been all the doughnut hockey. As you can see, I wasted no time pulling out the needles and made good use of the quiet moment to work on my magknit design.

Awww, you make me want twin boys more and more! Also, I can't wait to see those Magknits designs. Curiouser and curiouser...

Ahhh...nothing better for the soul than to see two good Boston boys playing hockey. :) Dying to see your next design....

they both fell asleep at the same time!? the force must be with you.

Isn't it great when this happens? It's like winning the mom lottery or something.

My 4 year old still takes the occasional afternoon nap. I figure he does it because he loves me and wants me to have time to knit!

Are those hand-made striped socks I see?

Posted by: Colleen at January 27, 2005 9:49 AM

That photo is so cute. Brings back memories of my girls. They gave up their naps the day they turned three. Which happened to be their first day of preschool. You'd think school would make them more tired and thus more likely to take a nap, but no such luck.

You hafta take advantage of opportunities like this. You're making me crazy with these small hints :)

Posted by: Vicki at January 27, 2005 10:12 AM

Colleen, I wish I could say that they were handknitted socks, but they're from the Gap. Bad mommy!

Two and a half, Karen, that's when I gave up my months-long daily practice of lying on the floor between the boys bed trying to convince them to take an afternoon nap. My back couldn't take it anymore!

Posted by: alison at January 27, 2005 10:21 AM

Uh oh, doughnut hockey!

I guess it was worth it for a few moments of peace. :)

Posted by: Heidi at January 27, 2005 10:35 AM

Oh my gosh! My son has those same golf clubs and plastic donuts... AND has played the same game of donut hockey. *great minds*

Posted by: Liz at January 27, 2005 10:49 AM

Both boys zonked out at the same time? I thought I felt the earth move! (Though that might have just been the snow shifting. Ugh.)

Posted by: shannon at January 27, 2005 11:40 AM

I have that doughnut! Well, Emily has that doughnut. From the big container of fake plastic food.

Posted by: Natalie at January 27, 2005 11:41 AM

How funny, Liz! I would have called it doughnut golf, since they are golf clubs, but the boys shoot the doughnuts under a bench we have and yell: "I win", so that's definitely hockey. And then there's the fighting too. ;0)

Aw, too cute.

Posted by: Nathania at January 27, 2005 12:06 PM

Awww-

Aren't those their blankies they're curled up with?

Posted by: Julia at January 27, 2005 12:13 PM

Why of course it's their blankies! Thanks for noticing, Julia. :) They sleep with the blankies at night and then the blankies live on the sofa all day for when they need a quick cuddle.

How do you cope with two... I only have one baby. She doesn't even crawl yet. Still, my hands are full ...

Posted by: Kristel at January 27, 2005 1:36 PM

I love it when we get a peek of your adorable little fellas! I'm a twin, and I've always wanted twins, sigh. Maybe one day!
PS, could you please add my blog url to my sockapalooza info? Thanks!

Oh, cute! Naptime??? TJ gave that up forever ago - I'm jealous. Now the real question is...will they go to bed tonight?

Posted by: jackie at January 27, 2005 3:25 PM

Doughnut hockey! I love it. I hope it was a nice stale donut that didn't leave a mess all over. I bet they had a good time.

I do not look forward to the day when my twins quit taking a nap. Fortunately, they are now 15 months old so that will be a bit in the future. The boy shows signs of wanting to cut back to one a day, but the girl still loves her two.

BTW, finished my Banff. had to be one of my top 5 fave project of last year. Great sweater. I'm just sorry I missed the KAL for it.

Ooooh...inquiring minds are curious - but just what are you making there?!?!

Posted by: Anne-Caroline at January 27, 2005 9:07 PM

Sleepy boys good. Knitting good. Donut hockey really good.

Posted by: Jenny at January 27, 2005 10:50 PM

Absolutely precious. I love watching my kids sleep. Just discovered my soon-to-be-7 is still sucking his thumb. :)

Posted by: Kathleen at January 28, 2005 7:58 AM

I drive my 3 year-old daughter around and around in the car in the late afternoon, to no avail. Yup, she gave up her naps at 2 also! So I am jealous!! And, two at once, how did you manage that? Cool.

Posted by: Denise at January 28, 2005 9:43 PM

Awww! Don't you love it when that happens ;-)
I couldn't knit a sts at the inlaws yesterday because my son was sleeping on me. Oh well...
