yarn work, yarn play

Hi ho, it's off to work I go! I'll be working for a few hours this weekend at my LYS, A Good Yarn, as they find themselves suddenly a bit understaffed. So stop by and say hi!

While I'm at work, the boys will be having tons of fun with daddy. They've come up with a new way to play with my leftover yarns. Previously they'd just run through the house holding the end of a ball and wrap yarn all over everything, remember? Now they have a new contraption. Inspired by their attempts to play with the cord on the venetian blinds, daddy hooked a strand of yarn for each of them over the entrance to the kitchen and made a loop at the bottom large enough to hang one matchbox car on. Attach car, pull yarn back, let go, and the it flies into the kitchen and then right back at you!

At least I won't have to rewind entire balls of yarn when I get home.

Oh boy will they have fun! My nephew as been known to take yarn (that in use, I might add) and string it all through the house. Very artistic in a destructive sort of way - I'm sure you know what I mean. Have fun OUT of the house today!

Have a fun day ! Will you be paid in yarn ? ! :0)

Yay for boys and daddies! Very ingenious toy-making at its best. Phooey on toy stores -- use your imagination! What a shame you have work in a YARN STORE!!! And what a shame I have to work in a chocolate factory tomorrow. At least yours doesn't have calories.

So, will you be as broke as I would be when you come home from "work"? ;)

Is it just me, or do those boys look like they lost their 'toddler' look overnight? They both look so BIGBOYish!
We're remodeling a home to move into, and I will be within WALKING DISTANCE to my LYS. (www.greatyarns.com ....which, by the way was featured in the 'Knitters Stash' book!) I'm going to be SO broke!

lol... I was wondering the same as Emma. I think the best job in the world would be to work at a yarn store.

Oh yeah, the boys look so BIG suddenly! Must be the photo. You should get them each toy spindles and teach them to spin. Then you've have ready-made yarn and can keep them busy at the same time. ha ha ha

I've been lurking and reading your blog for a little while now, but I just had to comment about your adorable boys! My 3- and 5-year old boys love my yarn and tie it to anything and everything. I defnitely cannot show them the picture of your flying Hot Wheels because then they would be begging me to do that to their cars! LOL As it is, they already have strings attached to many toys and drag them around in massive races through the house in which the cats also either get involved trying to catch these fun toys, or get trampled. It's chaos, but priceless.

Those are some creative men you've got there. Have fun working, try not to spend everything you earn before you get out the door :)

Ooh, my brother and I used to take mom's yarn and make "cobwebs" of it all through the livingroom. Strangely, mom didn't find this at all fun. :)

What a fun game. Your boys do look so big!

everybody's having fun! Your boys really have gotten SO big! Too cute together.

Ah, yes, buy tons of toys for Christmas, and the best fun is gotten from yarn and Hot Wheels! :) Looks a lot like the bannister on our stairs here. Your boys are so sweet, and suddenly look quite grown!

Say, is the Feb. is For Fixing KAL still open to new people? I'm horribly late, I know, but just curious as I suddenly have ripped out a big project.

My favorite part of that photo is your son on the right looking so sheepish! How cute your boys are!
