"argyle" sock

Too freaking cool!

What I really love, besides those awesome colors, is how the red "shazaam" stripe pooled a little more on one side of the heel than on the other. That way the red could be worn to the inside of the leg, making the socks appear more blue, or to the outside, showing off how wild they are.

Um, I may just have to keep these socks afterall.

that has to be one of the strangest, but coolest, pooling yarns I've ever seen! Just think, if you were TRYING to make it come out like that, there'd be no hope!

Okay, now go reproduce it with sock #2! I'm crossing my fingers for you, but no matter what, they are great socks!

I agree. Too freaking cool! That looks so great! :D

That looks so cool! Where did you get the yarn and what is it called? (of course it wouldn't do that for me, for sure) I've never heard of Lorna's Laces argyle if that's what it is.

You MUST keep these awesome socks for yourself!
I'll bet you'll be tempted to knit another pair
as well!

Honestly, I think that is the coolest sock I have ever seen. Ever. My favorite color is red, and I completely love how the red pops in that sock.

I would feel like a total rock star wearing those, and so will you!

Ok, I think those are the coolest socks I have ever seen! That looks amazing! I have to ask, do you use a pattern or what? My first pair is with the classic yankee sock pattern, but from my own experience and from word of mouth, the pattern produces a sock that is too tight around the heel. So, the quest for the "perfect" sock pattern continues!

Those are pretty frikking cool!

Posted by: Shelby at April 29, 2005 10:00 AM

Okay! Inspiration to make my second sock! And then maybe a scarf, just to see if I can recreate it...

All the details for those who missed them: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport yarn in color 501, "argyle". I cast on 52 stitches and did short-row heels and toes following Priscilla Gibson-Roberts' method in her Dream Socks pattern, which is free at Interweave Knits to subscribers or can be found in her book, Simple Socks Plain and Fancy.

Love that shazaam!

Those socks are awesome! They're definitely "Automatic Good Day" socks, guarenteed to make even the most boring day exciting. :) Can't wait to see the next one.

Attention children of the 70s: This "shazaam" reminds me of another one http://www.70slivekidvid.com/shaz.htm

Posted by: General Ginger at April 29, 2005 11:25 AM

Cool! But how are they argyle? Hmmm.....

Posted by: Evelyn at April 29, 2005 12:02 PM

those are total keepers!!

Posted by: tania at April 29, 2005 1:16 PM

So cool! I love how the colors pooled.

Posted by: Madalyn at April 29, 2005 1:27 PM

Love them! Especially the red heel and toe. Definitely a keeper!

Posted by: kellyt at April 29, 2005 2:09 PM

awesome socks! the pool is definately cool ;)

Posted by: rebecca at April 29, 2005 2:23 PM

Those are the coolest, most fun socks I've seen in ages. I think you should keep them!

Posted by: Karma at April 29, 2005 2:32 PM

I love the way they pooled, they look really cool! Why doesn't my pooling work nicely like that?

I just wanted to make sure you knew I got my sockapalooza socks, and I hope to join in on the next (summer?) sockapalooza!

Posted by: Karlie at April 29, 2005 3:03 PM

Those turned out really cool! I envy you your NBT. Can't wait to see it.

Posted by: Julia at April 29, 2005 3:28 PM

these socks are awesome!

Posted by: Peggy at April 29, 2005 3:58 PM

Oh, very cool! I would keep 'em. Make another pair for the intended.

Posted by: MJ at April 29, 2005 4:41 PM

Oh keep them, keep them!! I am all for giving beautiful hand made gifts, I love giving people knits, but those socks are just exceptional!

Posted by: jo at April 29, 2005 5:20 PM

They're Uber Spiderman Ginormously Kewl. I think you have the wackiest knack for pooling sock yarn. What's up with that, anyway?

Posted by: Liz at April 29, 2005 5:39 PM

So cool! Those colors are great together too, like the bits of grey.

Posted by: Vicki at April 29, 2005 6:16 PM

cool! but did you even breath while that was happening?lol you are so good even the socks shazam in a good way for you.;0)

Posted by: cara at April 29, 2005 6:37 PM

Beautiful! Keep 'em for yourself.

Posted by: Jennifer at April 29, 2005 7:29 PM

Unfortunately, I really started coveting this sock only after finishing it and it's not my size!

And how much of a doofus am I that I spent the whole day trying to figure out what on earth Julia meant by NBT?! You put a pattern out there and you just don't know what will happen to it. Apparently mine has acquired a hip abbreviation that makes it sound like a rap group. Cool! It could be worse, we like to call that Cherry Picking pattern from the Rowan ASC book "Cherry Boobs". Sorry, Kim! ;0)

Posted by: alison at April 29, 2005 11:35 PM

They're very cool. I think they make me think of either fireworks, or a digital reading...like for sound waves, or a heart monitor :)

Posted by: Jenn at April 30, 2005 6:02 PM

Those are some of the coolest socks I've ever seen. I love them

Of course, even if I had the same yarn, my feet are so much bigger that I'd never get them to pool like that. Ah well.

ps, have you seen my afghan latest in my blog?
