ready, set, go

Ready... Read yesterday's post again for all the details on the info you need to submit.

Set... Get out your notes, double-check your foot measurement, rethink those favorite colors.

Go... Click on over to the sign-up page here [link removed], type in your info and you're in! Leave any important notes for me in the "Comments" box (like if you'll be moving soon and will send another address later or you'd really like a Canadian sock pal or whatever). If you have any problems with the system, send me an email and let me know.

I think I'll cap this round at about 200 people. I'll let you know in the comments here if/when we're getting close to that number. Feel free to ask technical questions in the comments as well. We can use them as a little Sockapalooza FAQ. So if you've got questions, read the post from yesterday and glance through the comments here and if you don't see your question, ask away!

Woohoo!

UPDATE: 1:00pm and we've already got over 100 people signed up. Get your info in if you want to join us!

UPDATE: 4:00pm and there are almost 170 people signed up. Still some spots left!

UPDATE: 6:20pm and it's getting down to the wire. Just a little more time for some of you to get home from work, measure your feet and sign-up!

UPDATE: 9:30pm, we're past 200, but I'm not shutting down just yet. If you want in, sign-up now!

UPDATE: Midnight and I'm shutting down the sign-ups. We've got a huge group! This is going to be GREAT!

UPDATE: With the sudden death of my hard drive, I'm stuck working on getting my laptop up and running again instead of progressing with Sockapal-2-za organization. This means that it will be a few days before I get to adding any corrections that you might have sent me to your info. I will send you an email when I have corrected your info. Thanks for understanding!

Posted by: Cara at June 1, 2005 11:09 AM

Hey Alison, if you need an extra hand organizing let me know...I can help out if needed.

Posted by: Carla at June 1, 2005 11:23 AM

i signed up, but hit the enter button too soon--before I finished entering my info...so I tried again. Sorry if there's a double sign up by me! eek. looking forward to the knitalong... thanks for organizing once again!

Posted by: tania at June 1, 2005 11:25 AM

I just signed up! I watched the other one via your blog and now I'm ready to have a shot! Thanks for your time and work organizing this!

Posted by: Shanidy at June 1, 2005 11:32 AM

I think I'll sit this one out, and let someone else have a try. The last one was fun! Thanks! :)

Posted by: Andrea at June 1, 2005 11:39 AM

Watching the first Sockapalooza was what made me start knitting fun socks instead of boring utilitarian ones--thanks for setting up Round 2!!

Posted by: Ashley at June 1, 2005 11:41 AM

Two hours in and we've got 75 sign-ups already! It's like watching a concert sell out. This is crazy fun! Glad everyone is so excited about round two. :)

Posted by: alison at June 1, 2005 11:49 AM

Awesome! I just signed up, and it's my first secret pal type thing.

I typed a lot in the info section, so let me know if you want me to trim it at all. I figured the more info, the better, and the more helpful for my sock buddy. But I also don't want to sound too high maintenance.

Posted by: RK at June 1, 2005 11:56 AM

I just signed up! I'm so glad you're doing this again, I'm another one of the people who discovered the first round after the deadline. Mind if I save the button to put on my blog?

Posted by: Jaimi at June 1, 2005 12:03 PM

Oh, I really want to sign up, and it seems like this is going to fill up very quickly. But I'm at work and can't get foot measurements until tonight, and if the signups continue at this rate you'll hit the 200 cap by then. Can I sign up and send in that info later? Pretty please?

Posted by: Jenipurr at June 1, 2005 12:21 PM

Yes, yes, folks, as soon as you're in, copy the button, save it on your own server, and put it up on your blog!

Posted by: alison at June 1, 2005 12:30 PM

Thanks alison, I'm in!

Posted by: Amy at June 1, 2005 1:35 PM

Woohoo! I was so mad at myself for not getting in last time. Thanks for giving it another go around.

Posted by: Bliss at June 1, 2005 2:18 PM

Signed in and hope I made the cut . . . will there be an opportunity to update my info in the database? I realized that I might need to give more information on my foot measurements.

Posted by: Lola at June 1, 2005 2:27 PM

I signed up!! I am so excited!!

Posted by: Mary at June 1, 2005 2:30 PM

Here's to hoping I made the cut -- looking forward to the final list to see if I made it!

Posted by: Brynne at June 1, 2005 2:32 PM

I just signed up. Thanks so much for doing this again. The first swap was so great. I can't wait.

Posted by: Jessica at June 1, 2005 2:47 PM

I'm in too! Thanks for organizing again, Alison!

Posted by: Kristel at June 1, 2005 2:48 PM

I signed in and it said my info would be added to the database. Does this mean I'm in? Or is there some kind of confirmations step?

I. Am. So. Excited!

So much fun. Thanks for doing this!

And, I'd be happy to help with any part of it if you start to feel overwhelmed. Just let me know. ;-)

Posted by: paula at June 1, 2005 2:48 PM

me too! I hope I made it in! And yes, I fudged my entry info too (so I sent you an email).

Thanks for hosting this! :)

Posted by: Anita at June 1, 2005 2:49 PM

Alison. Thanks for hosting this again!! I loved being part of Sockapalooza 1 and I'm really thrilled Sockapal-2-za is here!! In fact I've had your button on my blog for days in anticipation!! :)

I can help out too, if you need anything!

Posted by: Debi at June 1, 2005 3:25 PM

My first sockapalooza!! I'm very exited about it.

Posted by: ada at June 1, 2005 4:03 PM

Hi Alison,
I can't remember if I put Beginner or experienced on my entry, but it should be experienced.

Thanks for hosting this. I watched jealously as all the first sockapalooza socks were revealed, so I'm very excited I get to be part of this one.

Gwen

Posted by: Gwen at June 1, 2005 4:24 PM

I want a spot, but I'm not at home to email you. Save me a spot and I'll send in my info as soon as I get home.

Yeay for summer sockapaloosa!

Posted by: Jenn at June 1, 2005 4:41 PM

Ack. I'm hoping to sign up, but I don't know if any spaces will be left when I get home from work (can't take measurments here).

Posted by: Lyme at June 1, 2005 5:10 PM

I knew I should have signed in at while at work! I hope I made it. In any event can anyone email me (again,I am hopeless) the instrcutions for installing the button. I use typepad for my blog if that makes a difference!

Posted by: amysue at June 1, 2005 5:20 PM

much as i'd like to do this (the last one looked like sooooo much fun), i'm too hard to fit to stick some poor unsuspecting knitter with...so i'll be lurking with nose pressed against window watching you all...enjoy! :-)

Posted by: laurie at June 1, 2005 5:23 PM

I'm in!!

Posted by: Samantha at June 1, 2005 5:28 PM

Having enjoyed the first one so much, I didn't want to miss out on this one so completed the questionnaire from work in between appointments with clients. Hope I answered everything as I didn't have time to check or think about what I was writing! Glad I did though as I see you've already got 170 (or more by now!)Thanks Alison for organising this again. I don't know how you manage.

Posted by: Marie-france at June 1, 2005 5:46 PM

Just for clarification, once you type your info in and click on submit, your info is added to the system. You should get a new screen that says that your info was added. That's it - you're in!

Posted by: alison at June 1, 2005 5:58 PM

Thanks so much for hosting the summer round. Last time was lots of fun. If you need any help with admin in UK or Europe, just give me a shout.

Posted by: Mary at June 1, 2005 7:30 PM

I can't wait! Now I just need to find my runaway tape measure so I can check the measurements of my feet! (I signed up without it. I hope that was ok. I couldn't risk not getting in just because my stupid tape measure is hiding.)

Posted by: Christine at June 1, 2005 8:18 PM

I signed up too! Can't wait! I am very new to blogging and have no clue how to add links and buttons. Would anybody be willing to help a fellow knitter out? Thanks!

Posted by: LIz at June 1, 2005 10:19 PM

Ack!! This is the great stuff I've been missing while I've gotten 2600 entries behind on my blogreading. I'll have to keep up now so that I don't miss it again!!!

Posted by: Jackie at June 2, 2005 12:03 AM

Call me crazy if you will, but aren't you the one I met last fall at Knit New York, knitting a sock and hating every minute of it? What a turnaround!!

Posted by: Jackie at June 2, 2005 12:05 AM

Nooooooo! I sign on at 12:25 to find I'm barely too late! Ack!

If you are willing to take one more beginner, please let me know, I would love to join the gang!

Posted by: Gina at June 2, 2005 12:19 AM

Hi Alison,

Obviously the timezone was a killer as I missed out on the signup! Can I squeeze in too?

Emy

Posted by: emy at June 2, 2005 5:08 AM

BUGGER the time differences get me every time on things like this!!!

waiting for threeza now...

Posted by: stinkerbell at June 2, 2005 5:09 AM

Darn. I missed it. Yesterday when I checked in the signup post wasn't up...Can I be put on a waiting list?

Posted by: Leanne at June 2, 2005 8:24 AM

I missed it! Boohoo -that's what I get for a day away from the computer.

Posted by: Jackie at June 2, 2005 8:51 AM

Alison, you are a saint for putting so much work into these. People have so much fun with them. I imagine you do too, but I also imagine they are a ton of work. BRAVO!

Posted by: Bookish Wendy at June 2, 2005 9:53 AM

Once again, I'm too late!!! Nooooo. If a space should become available, I'd really like to be in this one.

Posted by: mary at June 2, 2005 10:45 AM

Well shoot, I missed out too. If you need someone to fill in for a dropout, consider me! Otherwise, I'll try to pay attention and sign up for #3.
Judy

Posted by: Judy at June 2, 2005 10:59 AM

Did you get my emails!?!?!??!

Posted by: Gina at June 2, 2005 11:32 AM

Dangit! I missed it!! Do you have room for one more? If not, no biggie. :) by the way, I moved my blog... formerly 'what's the name of that blog.' sorry to keep moving.

Posted by: Liz at June 2, 2005 11:50 AM

I'm so sorry that everyone didn't get to sign up who wanted to. I had hoped that the 24hour warning from my previous post would give everyone a heads up so they would know to tune in on Wednesday with all their info ready. And I know that the time differences make it really difficult for some of you. I had no idea that the 200 slots would "sell out" so quickly!

If I can't squeeze you in this time, I sure hope to sock along with you all next time!

Posted by: alison at June 2, 2005 11:56 AM

awww, i missed it, too, and I really wanted to do it!

Posted by: Janine at June 2, 2005 2:00 PM

Whaaa! I always miss short deadlines. Maybe next time. It's not like I'm not going to be knitting socks anyway.

Posted by: Julia at June 2, 2005 3:18 PM

aw man, what a bummer... this is how far behind i am in reading blogs. i'll catch up and make it next time (someone send me a reminder when it comes around ;P)

Posted by: rebecca at June 2, 2005 3:59 PM

Woohoo, I made it in on time. Managed to get my measurements using a piece of string, a 9x12 envelope, and a lot of creativity (I hope they aren't too far off).

Posted by: Lyme at June 2, 2005 4:48 PM

I hope you all have a blast--I just saw ZenNeedle's post about the Sockpal2za--and really, I wanted to join because of the name--how clever!!! I love it!!

Posted by: Renada at June 2, 2005 5:35 PM

Darn it - missed the deadline this time :-( Any chance for a Sockapalooza3?

Posted by: Kathy at June 2, 2005 10:10 PM

Darn! I missed it! Let me know if there is a waiting list! It was fun last time! But, I am so glad that so many people want to participate!!

Posted by: Gracie at June 2, 2005 10:50 PM

Hi Alison,

I was in the previous one, can I please join this one too?

Posted by: Chrissie Phillips at June 2, 2005 11:06 PM

Well, boo. This is what happens when you have to work for a living: You miss the window for Sockapalooza. :-(

Have fun everyone! I'm looking forward to seeing some photos!

Posted by: Joan C at June 2, 2005 11:11 PM

Please Please don't say I missed it! I have been waiting and as many times as I hit the link I couldn't get through to the next. I had so much fun last time.

Posted by: cindy at June 2, 2005 11:57 PM

I can't even believe I missed it! Spending time with the grandparents was well worth it though (at least that's what I'll have to tell myself).

Posted by: Vicki at June 3, 2005 10:51 AM

meh. Missed it. :(

Posted by: Timothy at June 3, 2005 12:03 PM

PLEASE add me to any waiting list you might have!!?? I've been waiting to see when it might open but missed it, so quick!!!

Thanks!!

~Carry

Posted by: Carry at June 3, 2005 1:32 PM

Dang, I knew I should have read your blog the other day. So, will you set up another sokapl-2-za in a few months? I would gladly praticipate with some pretty yarns.

Posted by: Traci at June 3, 2005 5:06 PM

Oh I'm so sad! I've been trying to keep a look out for this too. If anybody cancels....

Posted by: Deb at June 4, 2005 3:08 PM

Me too ;o(
Maybe we should run a small offshoot group [as long as the BlueBlog lady doesn't mind of course], those of us who missed this one?
