the scarf mark

I may not be reading Harry Potter 6 yet, but I did spend a little knitting time this weekend to make a bookmark for it. Several people pointed out Laura's Harry Potter bookscarf pattern to me and I just had to make one. I had some leftover yarn from the big Prisoner of Azkaban scarf I made for the store, so I was able to use that instead of the floss that Laura used (11 stitches to the inch - now that's a true fan!). At my gauge, I only had room for three of the gold stripes, but you still get the effect. I whipped the whole thing out at Knitsmiths yesterday, while yelling at people not to talk about HP6. (Heh, heh, I'm a little nervous that someone will ruin it for me.)

And as is always the case, I still haven't used up all the leftovers. I think I many have to make another - for the store window, you know.

I made some of the old-style ones last year, but now I want to make new ones like yours! This may be a good alternative to reknitting my old-style scarf (the person-sized one) for the new one you made.

Cool bookmark!!!
Just thought I'd tell you that my sockpaltwozaa socks are finished. I've got a picture up on the blog today but the picture is dreadful. Can't recognize the pattern at all. Probably try and get some better shots tonight.

How perfectly adorable! Now I want one for each of my HP books. There may very well be a yarn store trip in my immediate future. =)

Oh wow, that is cute! To spend time reading the book or knitting a scarf for the book? Choices, choices...

You'd better read quickly! I don't think anyone would tell you on purpose, but you wouldn't want anyone to slip and give it away! I mean what if someone tells you that . . . oops! See what I almost did? (grin--I like your bookmark!)

Must make bookmark, as hubby is reading HP6 and I am re-reading HP5 because I have forgotten the story line (JKR need to write faster!) - off to yarn store....yea, another project to keep me from the dreaded acrylic BBBB...just want it done but have lost inspiration....

That's a cute idea...love it! Might have to make one for my HP-crazed cousin, lol!

That bookmark is so cute! I don't use bookmarks (hence the sorry state of all my book spines) but I'm sure I could think of someone who needs one.

Very Fab. Thanks for the pattern link.

If you don't want the book to be ruined for you.... don't read too many blogs!! I've read in at least two or three places "what happens".

The book scarf is awesomely perfect for HP fans!! :)

I'm waiting until payday to buy the book - and I really want to re-read HP5 too. I will be sad if I read a spoiler somewhere! ACCK!!

The bookmark is so adorable!

Very cute! I like your woolly version. Now get busy reading!

Posted by: Laura at July 26, 2005 2:22 AM

That is so cute... Of course I have to make one now :)

Don't let anyone ruin HP6 for you! It's worth the wait to read it on your own.

Cute bookmark!
