november 8, 2005

tuesday is knitalong day

Well, there's not much to report in the old sockapaltwoza. Little has changed from two weeks ago. A few more socks have arrived on the doorstep of relieved pals...

Gaile received socks from Janine
Amber received socks from Lori
Sarah received her socks from another Sarah
Sister Amy received her socks from Timothy (look, they match her habit!)

...and some make-up socks are already being delivered, like these that Amy got from Bliss. (By the way, thanks to all my sock saviors out there - you'll be hearing from me with another list of forgotten pals very soon!)

But I will make this announcement: I do plan on doing a third round of the Sockapalooza!! I think it's best if we wait until the new year to get started though, since holiday knitting and general holiday busy-ness might prevent a few people from finishing on time. And speaking of holiday knitting, anyone doing a holiday knitting knitalong? I did one a couple of years ago and man did it ever help with getting those pressies finished! Who's up for it??

(Also coming up in January, another Rip-along. New Years seems like the perfect time to pull out those projects gone wrong and FROG 'em. I can't wait!!)

I'm up for a holiday knitalong, but I'm already pretty far along! Three holiday presents have already been GIFTED!

Posted by: Johanna at November 8, 2005 9:18 AM

Yay! I'm very happy to hear that there will be another sockapalooza. I may also join the rip-along. I have a sweater that's mostly frogged, and waiting to be re-knit into something that will actually fit my boyfriend. (Hint - if the shoulder is too wide because of ribbing, regular sleeves turn into orangutan sleeves, and non good but frogging can come of this!)

I think a Holiday Knit Along would be great!!!!

Posted by: Gina at November 8, 2005 9:32 AM

I'm up for a holiday knit-a-long; I'll need as much encouragement as I can get! I'm also learning how to make socks, so I would be up for a sockapalooza. It's so cool to see so many people knitting for each other!

Posted by: ruth at November 8, 2005 9:38 AM

Sure I'm up for it. I have a bunch of presents that need to be done by Yule so I sure as heck need the motivation too! :D

Posted by: Lisa P at November 8, 2005 9:38 AM

I'm in for the holiday KAL. I'm coming to the conclusion that all the mittens I have planned aren't going to knit themselves.

Posted by: Ruth at November 8, 2005 9:45 AM

Yes to all of the above!!! A holiday finish-along would be great, to help me stay on track with my deadlines for gifts. Not having participated in sock-a-pal-two-za (or one-za!), I am very much up for round 3! And, I do have a project in need of a ripping, but I've been too chicken to do anything about it by myself, so a group effort might build up my resolve!

Posted by: Danielle at November 8, 2005 10:01 AM

I'm up for a Rip A long! I have a cardigan that really needs to be something else!

Posted by: stacey at November 8, 2005 10:02 AM

Yup! I am definately up for a holiday kinit along I really need as much encouragement as I can get. I am excited you are going to do the sockapalooza again too! I also love seeing everyone creativeity so I am up for HKA.

Posted by: cindy villarreal at November 8, 2005 10:02 AM

Absolutely up for a holiday KAL -- I need a kick in the pants to get finished too.

Posted by: Ann at November 8, 2005 10:13 AM

Holiday knit-along, yessss!
I definitely need to be accountable to someone and I don't think that Santa is going to be much help with this!

Posted by: Christine at November 8, 2005 10:28 AM

Yay! I would love the holiday knitalong! And count me in for sockapalooza3 -- my first pair of socks will be one of my holiday gifts for my sister -- but I want to find out what all this sock brouhaha is about.

Hey, if you don't want to host the holiday-along, would you mentor me, and I would be happy to host it? I am not sure if it's a delight or a burden, but I'd love to do it if you don't!

Posted by: Jen at November 8, 2005 10:28 AM

A, I want to be in Sockapalooza III. Just sayin' cause I know you're not running the signup yet.

B, sign me up for the holiday knitalong, also.

Posted by: Colleen at November 8, 2005 10:28 AM

Hi Alison
I'm totally up for a holiday knit along. A have one on the needles, a few done, and a few more to go. Thanks for suggesting it!
Julia

Posted by: Julia at November 8, 2005 10:38 AM

Include me too, please! I've (crazily, I may add) decided to knit both my parents sweaters for Christmas. I've never knitted for Christmas, so this will be a good motivator and resource.

Posted by: Erin at November 8, 2005 10:45 AM

A holiday KAL is definitely in order!

Posted by: Leisel at November 8, 2005 10:47 AM

Hi, I'm up for the holiday KAL. Instead of the list of things that need to be done going dowm, its actually going up and not long left-defiantly need shed loads of encouragement!
Nic

Posted by: Nic at November 8, 2005 10:54 AM

I'm not exactly sure what's involved with a knit-along, but I'm in the midst of holiday knitting as I type this, (4 down, 3 to go). I've also found out about a knitter in my area who is going to have a "Knit-In" at her church in December and is inviting knitters to come and knit scarves for the homeless. I really like that idea, so I hope I can make it there.

Posted by: Mary at November 8, 2005 10:54 AM

I'm up for all three! Socks were fab, ripping was even better and I could really use a cheerleader for the holiday knitting. Bring it on!

Posted by: suzanne at November 8, 2005 10:55 AM

Oh - I'll definitely be up for a "rip-along" in January!

Posted by: Mary at November 8, 2005 10:56 AM

Oops, I posted too hastily, and missed the part where you said you WERE doing the holiday knitalong. OK great, count me in. I've got (yikes!) 10 projects to do.

Posted by: Jen at November 8, 2005 10:57 AM

I'm in for a holiday KAL and the new sockapalooza!

Posted by: Linz at November 8, 2005 10:58 AM

I would like to join your Holiday-along, I have gifts to make and need the encouragement. I would also like to join your Weasley if it's not too late, I have some Hermione mittens that need knitting and a PoA scarf.

Posted by: jsc at November 8, 2005 11:01 AM

I'd be up for a holiday KAL for finishing gifts. I've also got a StockingAlong going for completing stockings (and other holiday decorations) in time for Christmas or other winter holidays. http://stockingalong.blogspot.com/

Posted by: Becky at November 8, 2005 11:01 AM

Yes and yes. I'm all over both!!!!!

Posted by: Suzie at November 8, 2005 11:04 AM

Definitely up for a holiday knitalong. Lots of gifts to make!!

Posted by: kate at November 8, 2005 11:07 AM

I'm up for a Holiday knitalong. I'm already on gift #4 out of 5 (or maybe 6, if I have time). And I might not be able to blog after December 12. But still, count me in!

Posted by: Sneaksleep at November 8, 2005 11:18 AM

I received my beautiful socks from Rachel last week. They were worth the wait!

Posted by: Sharon F at November 8, 2005 12:02 PM

I'm up for a holiday-along!
I have 3 kid-sized afghans to make!!And a baby sweater!! EEK!!!

Posted by: Hayley at November 8, 2005 12:11 PM

I'd love to do a holiday knitalong. I've decided to scale back in a major way from my original plans, but I still have knitting to do.

Posted by: Sara at November 8, 2005 12:13 PM

yes to all three! I've finally learned how to make socks, I have three large holiday gifts in the wings, and I need to rip out a bunch of old sweaters. Here we go!

Posted by: Renata Stauder at November 8, 2005 12:32 PM

I'm totally in *need* of a holiday KAL! Sign me up, please!

Posted by: Kristi at November 8, 2005 12:37 PM

I'm up for the KAL, I need the moral support. This will be my first year knitting presents for everybody and the idea is a little daunting. I already have one done though. :)

Count me in!

Posted by: Tracy at November 8, 2005 12:47 PM

I would love to participate in the next round of sockapaltwoza. Count me in for the holiday KAL as well. Originally I had grand designs for this year's holiday season, then reality came a knocking and I've had to scratch a few off my list. I still have some holiday knitting to do and could use some serious support on finsihing the socks my BIL asked for (one done one to go!).
Eliza

Posted by: Eliza at November 8, 2005 12:57 PM

A holiday knit-along would be great! I have a fantasy of two sweaters, but it may be just that.
As to Sockapalooza, I should probably wait on that until I feel I've made one good pair.

Posted by: Songbird at November 8, 2005 1:17 PM

I'm all over #3!

Oh, and I'm on sock 2 of my angel pair..just so that you know1

Posted by: Anita at November 8, 2005 1:37 PM

I'm completely up for a Holiday Knitalong! Count me in....

Posted by: amysue at November 8, 2005 1:40 PM

A holiday knit along will keep me on task (I hope). Count me in as well.

Posted by: Emily at November 8, 2005 1:50 PM

I'm slowly working my way through my holiday knitting. Commiserating with others in the same predicament will be nice.

Posted by: Kat at November 8, 2005 2:00 PM

Yes, yes and yes to all proposed knitalongs!! :)

I've already got a list of proposed holiday projects on my blog - My goal is to update my progress on the blog weekly to help keep me focussed. An -along will definitely help in that regard, too!

Posted by: Michelle at November 8, 2005 2:03 PM

I'm sooo holiday-alonging! Maybe this will help it all get done. I think I've over-extended myself!

Posted by: Julia at November 8, 2005 2:39 PM

I'm totally up for a holiday knit along. Maybe that will get my butt in gear. It still seems so far away, but I know that it isn't. Eek!

Posted by: Vicki at November 8, 2005 2:44 PM

Um, Wicked Stitches is doing some kind of holiday knitalong. I'm not sure when the signup is ending though. http://wicked_stitches.typepad.com/wicked_stitches/

Posted by: Robyn at November 8, 2005 3:29 PM

Woo-hoo!!! Sockapal3za! Can't wait :-) I might be in on a holday knitalong, just have to figure out what I'm making up and see if I'm being completely insane even considering it. Partially insane would be just fine.

Posted by: Kathy at November 8, 2005 5:06 PM

I need a holiday knit-along BADLY. I'm getting further and further behind, and need something like this to keep me from going totally insane.

I'm all over Sockapal3za! I've been sock crazy this fall and I'll need someone to knit for once all my Xmas socks are done...

Posted by: Chrissy at November 8, 2005 5:18 PM

I'd really love a holida knit-along. I'm working my way down my list - 3 down, 7 to go :) It's a lot more fun together...

Posted by: helene at November 8, 2005 5:35 PM

I'd love to do a holiday knit along! Most of my recipients read my blog (yep, family too!) so it might be kinda hard to post progress pictures...

Posted by: Sarah at November 8, 2005 5:50 PM

I would love to be in a holiday knit-along, hopefully it would give me the motivation to actually get started! 3 sets of hats & scarves, a poncho (I know, I know, but she doesn't know any better than to want one), a Baby Bobbi Bear & who knows what else are all waiting for my immediate attention. Phew!

Posted by: Gina at November 8, 2005 6:21 PM

Woo-hoo! I'm in for Sockapal-3-za... or whatever it will be called.

Is it OK to cross-register for the HKAL? If so, I have a pile of knitting to do for other KALs, plus a church bazaar. (Yep, I've seen plenty of plastic canvas - the good, the bad, and the ugly! Erica Wilson has some nice patterns.)

Posted by: Ina at November 8, 2005 6:26 PM

I'm up for a holiday KAL. I have four scarves finished and another one started. Only 46 days until Christmas. I need to knit faster!

Posted by: Kara at November 8, 2005 7:06 PM

sockapaloozer III sounds great, as does a Holiday KAL. Less than 50 days to go and I have not started one thing. Not even a list of stuff to do. Plus I have to springclean stash, and have two to-knit-for birthdays in the beginning of December.
Help!

Dawn:)

Posted by: dawn at November 8, 2005 7:43 PM

I'd love to do a holiday knit along! I keep adding to my list of holiday gifts -- a knit along might help keep me under control!

Posted by: rebecca at November 8, 2005 7:47 PM

I'm up for all of it - the holiday knit along, sockpalthreeza? and the rip-along!

Posted by: Angela at November 8, 2005 8:07 PM

Yay Sockapal3za!!! Yep, I'm on board! :)

Posted by: Carry at November 8, 2005 8:41 PM

Well, okey dokey then. I'll start setting up for the holiday gift knitalong. I'm thinking of doing a blogspot blog for this one so everyone can post about their progress. Give me a few days to get the blog up and running and a button ready!

Posted by: alison at November 9, 2005 1:24 AM

I think I need a holiday knit along just for motivation, looking forward to it!

Posted by: Tiffany at November 9, 2005 2:29 AM

A holiday knit-along would definitely keep me motivated and (more importantly)focused!

Posted by: Ann at November 9, 2005 7:36 AM

this all sounds good...I don't know if I can commit to any more socks for a while yet, too many other things I want to make, too little time, however,...I do have something i'm going to rip...as soon as I decide what to make with the yarn.

Posted by: Orli at November 9, 2005 7:57 AM

A holiday knitalong is just what I need!

Posted by: courtney at November 9, 2005 8:40 AM

Yay! I'm so happy there will be another sockapalooza. I'm so there. :) I'm game for a ripalong in Jan. I already have a project in mind. :)

Posted by: Liz at November 9, 2005 9:02 AM

I think a Holiday Knitalong is a great idea. I have 2 hats, gauntlets, and a pair of socks to crank out. A little extra motivation would be great.

Posted by: Sarah at November 9, 2005 1:43 PM

I would be up for a holiday KAL. I have at least one pair of socks and after that, who knows? A kick in the butt is always helpful.

Posted by: Jenn at November 9, 2005 6:31 PM

A holiday knitalong would be great. I am only making 2 gifts this year - personalized Christmas stockings but I just can't seem to get started. I'm in!
