reindeer games

I woke up this morning to choruses of 'do you remember this game from yesterday?', 'can we play this game again?'. As a matter of fact, yes, I do vaguely remember something about a three an a half hour game marathon yesterday. After a few more games of Kinder of Catan this morning (one which was pretty heavily thrown B's way), SpongeBob has finally relieved me of my duties. So I can get back to cleaning, blogging, laundry and, if I'm lucky, knitting.

The holiday gifts are still top priority. The first gray sock is past the heel and I've updated my progress over at the knitalong. If I can't get all these gifts knitted, it may just have to be Kinder of Catan for everyone on the list this year!

You've probably answered this question a dozen times. What needles are you using on your socks? Are they fairly flexible? I'm on the search for better sock needles. The bamboos are no longer cutting the mustard.

I think we have every Settler of Catan game and espansion pack. Just wait! the only one I don't really love is the stargazer one. Kind of boring. And keep in mind the game of Killer Bunnies. The boys are a bit young yet, but not for too long. game is quite fun and the bunnies are hilarious!

Holly Jo, I'm using Comfort Zone needles which are really bendy and flexible. Plus, each size comes in it's own fun, bright color. In addition to these, I also like to use the dpn's from Bryspun. They also have some flexibility (not as much as the Comfort Zone ones though) and are a little bit shorter.

Good luck finding the right needles!

And what's the yarn? It would be perfect for some guys I know, a walk on the wild side.

Love the bright needles!

You amaze me ... you're like wonder woman or something. I have trouble keeping up with my ONE four year old son ... Ack! How do you do it? *lol* :)

Happy knitting!

Ina, the yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in their "nearly solid" (their name) color, pewter. The variegation isn't quite as pronounced in real life. The black tech guy socks are also in the same yarn and have the same slight variegation to them.

*lol* I find it actually really charming that children of that age focus so well on one thing. when I taught kindergarden the kids were always buzzing around wanting to do a million different things at once.

I had no idea Settlers existed in a form for kids! Well, I know what my children's first game will be! No Candyland for this family.

Good luck with the socks!

Wow! Those needles nearly knocked my socks off! What brand are the needles and yarn? They do look lovely together.

Michelle, check back in the comments above, I've answered both of those questions already. ;0)

Thanks for the info on those fancy-ass needles. I need fluorescent needles to take knitting in public just one step further to knitting IN YOUR FACE.

I also like the fact that they come in sets of 6 in case you lose one. Because let's face it - if it's that bright, and you still can't find it, it's gone.

Posted by: sarkasmo at December 1, 2005 11:21 AM

You're so right, Sarkasmo! I lost one of the neon pink ones in the park one afternoon. When we got home and I realized that it was gone, the boys and I went back to where we had been playing and there it was sitting the grass, just as pink as could be. No problem finding it at all.

Your knitting is flawless. A plain gray sock just shows off your expertise all the more!

Ah, more Kinder of Catan -- I wonder if that's more my speed than Settlers. :) [and hm, have you played Bohnanza? Though I guess the boys aren't old enough for it quite yet. ]

I love the comfort zone dpns, though they aren't as smooth as my pony pearls... but the tips are very nice and pointy!

[and having 6 needles has saved me more than I care to admit! ;) ]

Do you have a general pattern for your sock heels? I've never seen that before but it looks interesting and maybe easier? Can you lead me to the heel technique? I like the bright needles too.
