things I said I'd do right after I finished my Christmas knitting
Okay, I'm not technically finished yet, but I'm so close to being done I couldn't help but start planning for after.

Yes, I finished the Hannukah socks! And the last tech guy sock is back on the needles. (The yarn I need to finish the turtleneck shrug is being slow to arrive, so I don't think it should count against me.) That puts me at 11.5 of 12 gifts finished and close enough to start making post-holiday knitting to-do lists.
1. Begin sock savior socks. I've got a sock class starting next week and hope to complete these with my students and have them ready for mailing mid-January.
2. Make fabby knitted boots. The shoes are on my Amazon wish list. I didn't get them for Christmas, so time for me to go ahead and order them myself!
3. Make Hermione mittens. My hands are cold.
4. Begin a new sweater FOR ME! There are so many that I had planned to make this fall and winter that it's going to be hard to choose. Current possibilities are: this pullover in red Mission Falls wool, Rowan's Bless cardigan in blue Cork, Ella Rae t-shirt sweater in purple cotton angora, Knit & Tonic's not a cowl in something from my stash.... What should my first sweater of the new year be??
5. Begin sweater for hubby: the man's zip raglan cardigan from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I've already got the yarn and since at least two other Knitsmiths are making this one for their man, we can all knit it together!
6. Start organizing sockapaloooza three and planning what projects-gone-wrong to rip out for the new year's rip-along!
7. Get a full night's sleep. Right, like that's going to happen. Not with all this new knitting to do.

Yippee! Glad to see sockapalooza 3 on your to-do list. I watched the first 2 rounds, and can't wait to take part this time!
I love all those sweater options! They are all beautiful. I'm really looking forward to sockapalooza three. :)
Yay for almost done holiday knitting. I'd vote for the cowl, thinking it's good karma to work from the stash to start off the year.
Wait! No shoes yet? I thought you had started drilling! I vote for the KnT Somewhat Cowl - I've been eyeing it myself!
My mom just started the Ella Rae sweater, the sizing is a bit funny so you might want to check it using the whole #of stitches and gauge thing (the 40" sweater was going to be 50" at gauge). BTW do you still need a sock savior? I'd be happy to help if you do.
I'm looking at doing Bless also with the Cork I just got at Webs! I also love Ella Rae....
I have way too many new year projects to do also, but little projects for others keep slipping in! So many sweaters to be knit, so little time to knit them, so many months in Boston to wear them!
I love the not a cowl sweater and Bless has been on my list for ages. All of your choices are great. I'm sure that one of the yarns will just jump into your hands one day and that will be the one you start knitting!
I think we ought to have a knitalong for Bless!
I love all your choices. But I'd have to say, in the spirit of New Year resolutions, start with the one that will use up some stash. Then maybe you can justify when you buy more yarn for the next choice. Personally, I'm still buying yarn. My justification is that it's not the New Year yet, so what the heck. But believe me, I'm setting a cut-off date.
Wow! Congrats on getting everything (almost) done! =)
That's quite a New Year's list you've got going, I'd have a hard time choosing too.
One thing about those shoes though, is that since they're character shoes they're not going to have much of a sole. I have character shoes from shows I've done, and I accidentally ran out to my car with them on once, and the sole is completely destroyed. To my knowledge they're not really wearable outside, but I've never tried these ones, maybe they're different. Just something to check into =) Good luck with all your projects!
I'm so in for the zip-up sweater! I hope to get Jason to a yarn store this weekend to pick out his yarn. Let me know when you're starting!
oooh, I like Rowan's Bless cardy and I can't wait for Sockapal3za!
Your new year is shaping up to be a busy one. I want to make the zip up sweater for my dh. I need more hours in the day.
how do you know if those shoes will be comfertable?...or if they would fit...I often find that my shoe size varies dependng on the mfg.
I'm really likeing all the flat knee boots that are in style this season.
I love that first sweater choice.. the pull over.. and by the way.. what pattern is that?. I would like to make that for meself... You are always my first blog of the day.
Good idea on getting projects lined up to rip, I have a whole drawer of things I need to rip...

Oh Mary, I have the yarn for all the projects on the list already! They are deep, core stash yarns and are all begging to be knit FINALLY! No buying yarn for me for now. That is until that Wild & Wooly semi-annual clearance sale comes along in a few weeks! ;0)
Nancy, the first pullover on my list is the "Easy V-Neck Pullover" for Reynolds Caviar. here's a link to the actual pattern.
Thanks for the info, Jes. I just ordered what the pattern called for. I can try them out for everyone else who's thinking about the pattern. I'm not sure how much I'd really wear the shoes out anyway, but if I love them, then I can just go get some better shoes. But, man, it's hard finding something that's closed all the way around but isn't already a full boot!
Do you have a preferred pattern that you would recommend for the Harry Potter Scarf?
