36 hours

I told you hubby's suitcase was filled with yarn!

Germany socks ready for boarding.

Boys-eye view of blue soap at the airport bathroom. B is spinning.

Jetlag.

The boys' favorite time of the day: when the baker comes.

Wow, these German Playmobil figures sure do like ice cream.

Bakery delivery? What a fabulous country!

Posted by: Dava at February 16, 2006 6:16 AM

I was going to say the exact same thing! Mmm, I would be lining up like a Playmobil figure for bagels....

Posted by: Jill at February 16, 2006 7:03 AM

The ice cream march of the playmobils! How cute!

I wish I could have the bakery truck and the milk (and yogurt and egg) truck come to my house too.

You know, in Germany you can buy yarn as well ;-)
Next time you travel to the South of Germany (especially between Stuttgart and Munich), you could check out the factory outlets for Regia and for Schöller&Stahl - they're open for the public.

That is so cool! Have a great time. I hope that you get a lot of knitting done now that the GPs have taken over your little ones.

Willkommen! Too bad we can't meet up here:-(( Have fun hitting the LYS's:-)

Posted by: Julia at February 16, 2006 7:54 AM

Welcome to the "right" time zone :) guess we can check for your posts early now!

No progress on Sockapaloooza socks yet, but I have a cunning plan... just need to finish those olympics first.

Have fun in Germany!

I thought you were brave for traveling with your children. But no. You're even more brave for taking bathroom pictures! lol I'm usually too focused on the kids not touching anything to barely do anything else. "Don't TOUCH THAT!"

Where in Germany are you? I have family there too, near Hannover. We went to visit two years ago and will go again next summer. It's beautiful... and what a great experience for your boys.

Is your husband from Germany? Do your boys have an Oma and an Opa like my girls do?

Just a little nosy.. forgive me :)

Posted by: Elemmaciltur at February 16, 2006 9:10 AM

Alison, you are supposed to bring yarn BACK from Germany! :-)

Yarn outlets and the baker delivers...Germany is a wonderful place.

Posted by: Judy at February 16, 2006 9:15 AM

Posted by: Margot at February 16, 2006 9:18 AM

BAKERY DELIVERY? BAKERY DELIVERY!!!!!

I'm packing my bags now.

I just love that the bakery appears to be called "Heck". I can see the English advertising campaign now: "Our bakery beats the Heck out of the competition."

Posted by: Steph VW at February 16, 2006 9:26 AM

So fun! I am glad you all arrived safely! I wish I had the baker at my door now too! Have a great trip Alison! Oh, and check out my little placket neck pullover too!

Posted by: Dani at February 16, 2006 9:27 AM

I love the one with the Playmobils ;o)

Do your kids speak fluently German ?
Every time we go to France (once a year) my 3 year old daughter starts to speak in English with my parents but she switches very quickly in French , beacause my parents don't understand more than 3 words ;o)

Have a wonderfull stay with your In Laws !

Posted by: Karen in Toronto at February 16, 2006 9:32 AM

The playmobils still have me laughing! I used to love playing with those. Enjoy your trip!

Ahh Germany, How long was your flight? And are the boys good on the plane?

That's the only thing stopping us...the kids and that plane ride.

Posted by: Jenn at February 16, 2006 10:58 AM

SO. JEALOUS.
And I love that the bakery truck comes from Heck. That's almost as good as buying Bimbo bread in Mexico.

Posted by: Carrie at February 16, 2006 11:04 AM

Good to see that your plane trip with the boys went well. I grew up in Portugal and would go buy fresh bread every morning before school. There's nothing else like it...

Posted by: Cristina (CrissyPo) at February 16, 2006 11:06 AM

You make international travel with preschool-aged twin boys look like a SNAP, Alison... and a fun snap, too!

Love the line of figures for ice cream:) How appropriate that you wear your new German socks on your way to Germany? Have a good time with the in-laws!
