birthday bliss

Hubby let me spend my whole birthday on the sofa with my pure silk.

It wasn't all pure bliss: there was the inch and half I had to rip out at the start (arrrrgh!), then some dropped stitches in the middle of a cable much farther on (man, that silk is slippery), keeping track of the two pattern repeats was literally exhausting (thankfully, they synch back up every 24 rows), and then the Germans lost in the World Cup (poop). But it still ranks as one of the best birthdays I've ever had.

Looks good!

Sounds like a nice, relaxing day (minus the ripping back, of course!).

That is working up just lovely!

Sometimes I think of messing up a pattern and ripping back as the dress rehersal. When I was in high school majoring in acting they always told us that a terrible dress rehersal meant a fantastic show. The worse the dress rehersal, the more seamless the show would go. It's totally the same with knitting.

I'm glad you had such a relaxing (or "waxing" as the boys would say) birthday! The silk looks awesome, by the way... ;)

i don't think that i had heard the stadium that quiet ever when the germans lost that match. people were crying in the stands :( it was quite a heartbreaker.

Nothing better than knitting with silk on your birthday! Wow.

Belated Birthday greetings. My birthday was also on Tuesday.

I'm planning on knitting the said bolero, so I'll be keeping an eye on your progress.

Take care you

Bev xx

Happy belated birthday, and sorry about the Germany loss. Your bolero looks awesome. What pattern are you using ? (just getting on to your blog - so not completely up to date on what is going on !)

Yeah for birthdays! I've been thinking of you on yours, just didn't get it together to let you know! Happy happy belated b'day.

Happy Birthday! Those cables look beautiful. I think I'm going to have to go get some of that yarn!

Happy Belated!
Glad it was good for you.

For synching up the two pattern repeats, I like to use a two-digit row counter (the manual, barrel shaped kind). I don't use it to count total rows, but I use the first digit to track the first pattern's row, and the second digit to track the second pattern's row. Works like a charm, and no incessant attempts to count rows in cables. Have fun!

Happy Birthday (a little late)! I see that you too have found the elusive creature know as the "Wonderful Man". They are rare and are definitely keeper material.
That silk looks so yummy. I am "green" with envey. The pattern looks really nice.

well what can I say you are easy to please ;-)
what did the kids get up to?
it looks grogeous.
Yeah, a lot of ppl are disapointed with the world cup...my dad says that every time it's a disapointment...but at least i'm content that Argentina didn't make it...because I still haven't forgiven a certain lard arse that cheated and took the cup away from England...now I'm routine for Italy as they are much nicer than the French. (Sorry Becks)
