pixie dust

After seeing Tara's pixie hat on the baby bumpers blog, I wanted to make one for wee one on the way. I grabbed Erika Knight's Knitting for Two book at the store and found the most awesome yarn for the hat, Colinette's new "easy care" (read washable!), hand-dyed wool, Cadenza. This yarn is so cool! It's got really awesome colors.

I used a little Debbie Bliss Merino DK I had in red for the edging and the i-cords and Dani helped out by making a couple of her trademarked "kick-ass pompoms" for me ('cause I suck at making pompoms).

I had lots of extra yarn left over (seriously, a Colinette yarn with decent yardage, a good price and that's easy care - wow!), so I've got little thumbless baby mitts in the works!

That's an adorable hat. Can't wait to see the mitts.

What a sweet hat, it must be so special to have all this knitting to do for a little person that is on the way. I don't have any children, but I have always sworn that if I ever do get pregnant I am going to spend as much of my pregnancy as possible making baby things.

Do you like the book knitting for two? I saw it at Borders a while ago and thought about picking it up, but didn't. It looked like a really nice book though.

Aww! The hat is precious! Sweet colors! It'll really go with everything.

Too bad Little Miss BlueBlog isn't arriving NOW so that she can use all these things through the whole winter!

Oh my goodness, how cute! I love the shape and the pom poms. You're going to have one seriously well-dressed wee girly when she arrives!

The hat is adorable, and that yarn -- THAT YARN! There are at least three colorways of it that I MUST HAVE! Darn you, you enabler, you!!! Okay, I'm off to buy some yarn!

.... oh my gosh that hat is sooooo adorable! And I'm not usually a fan of pompoms, but they are so perfect on that hat! I am very tempted to make one, but first I'd have to find the book (hellooo library!) and some good yarn for it. I can't wait to see the thumb-less mitts you make, I've got plenty of friends with babies on the way, so that's another good idea for those winter babies.

That is too cute for words. Absolutely adorable. How do you do the pom poms or how does Dani? They really make the hat. I can't wait to see the mitts. Great job!!!

Oh. So. Cute.

It makes me think about baby number three already since that one might be a girl. :) Maybe I should finish up baby number two first...

What a cute pixie hat! Thanks for mentioning me in your blog. It's my blog debut!

That's a very cute hat.

In fact, I want one just like it for myself!

I am so happy to hear you suck at PomPoms! I do too! So I'm not the only one.... Love the hat! I've squished the Cadenza at my LYS and it is so soft and gorgeous...but of course it's Colinette, how could it not be gorgeous? I gotta get some soon!
