gryffindor! gryffindor!

While I watch the sockapalooza sign-ups roll in, I'm going to get started on a Gryffindor house hat for the Charmed Knits knitalong. Unsurprisingly, I've got a few leftover skeins of maroon and gold yarn in my stash.

Cascade 220

Why don't you join us and knit a hat for charity? In the meantime, while we wait for the book to roll into stores, here are a few teasers...

Atypically.knit's now-classic House Scarves! Isn't this where we all started our Harry Potter knitting? Lauren's scarves are in the book and she's even worked up a new version for us. (And there might just be a couple of other patterns from her in there too. Wink, wink.)

And how could I possibly do an HP knitting book without the weasley sweater? This is a new pattern written for a larger gauge, so it's even easier and faster to knit than the original!

Hope you're getting as excited as I am!

Oo, I can't wait for your book!

The teasers are very tempting, Alison! Must pre-order the book.... :)

Could you give us the gauge or the yarn requirements for the teasers so we can keep our eyes open for a good deal on the yarn? My LYS is having a sale next week and I've been eyeing the Weasley sweaters for years now may be the time to make one.

So exciting! Two new "deliveries" for you all in one year.

I love the teasers for Charmed Knitting and I CANNOT WAIT for May when it comes out!
P.S. I'm not that strong a sock-knitter so I won't be a sockapaloozer, but you all are going to have FUN!

So many things to get excited about these days!

I *must* have that book :)

Posted by: Isela at April 12, 2007 11:24 AM

Awesome! I was hoping for the Weasley in a larger gage. I finally finished my first one in the Rowan felted tweed and would love to make another for my son, daughter-in-law and & granddaughter. With three to make, the larger gage would be a must. My LYS would like to have a Weasley KAL too. We have your books pre-ordered. Could you please share what yarn you used and the gage the pattern is written for? Then my LYS could get an order placed for the approiate yarns. Maybe then we can have sweaters done in time for the movie & book releases in July. Harry Potter fans everywhere thank you sooooo much for writing your book!

I want to make a Weasley sweater for my son. I cannot wait for your book. :)

I.can't.wait! I am so excited. My Future SIL and I are huge Potter fans and I can't wait to get my (pre-ordered) book to make some things for her. She is a Ron Weasly fan so I am looking forward to making a weasly sweater.

I'm after Molly Weasley's cape/poncho (?) from The Prisoner of Azkhaban. Pleeeease.

Oh how exciting! I want to knit a "H" Weasley for my Henry. Maybe I will wait for the larger gauge version. Your Weasley's rock!

New knits from Lauren? Her patterns are great.

Oh my gosh! Over 725 sock knitters! WooHoo!

My 2yo (nearly 3yo) daughter is CAAA-RAYYYYY-ZEEE about Chamber of Secrets! I'm hoping to make her a Weasley when the book comes out! Fun!

I have never made a sweater, but I want to make a Weasley sweater so bad my fingers are twitching!!

Posted by: J. Denae at April 12, 2007 3:04 PM

You are correct! My first HP knit (and first in the round knit) was a Gryffindor scarf from her site. I thought I'd never finish it! My mail date is the 15th of May! Can't wait!

I have put in my request to joing the charmed knitalong, and pulled out my hogwarts colors. Just waiting for confirmation.

I cannot wait to see who my sockapalooza partner will be.

Yes, My first knitting project was my Hufflepuff scarf using Lauren's pattern. I have learned so much about knitting and myself during this wonderful journey!!

I'm so excited for your book and Sockapalooza!

Posted by: Jennifer at April 12, 2007 10:09 PM

My first-ever knitting project was a Gryffindor scarf for my oldest son. I intended to crochet it but just couldn't get anything figured out, even after several lessons. My son finally said, "Why don't you just learn to KNIT?"

And so I did. Two years later, your book is the perfect excuse to come full circle with even more HP knitted goodies. So THANKS from the bottom of my heart! (I should be posting a pic of my Gryffindor beanie very soon on the Charmed Knits KAL.)

I am so excited about your book!
I adore your blog and love HP. Hubby got one of Atypical knits Griffyndor House Scarves. That's a slog! But lovely when you finish.

(Shhhh... to answer your question, the new Weasley pattern is written for Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed, or any aran weight yarn - 16sts & 24rows to 4in - and calls for between 4 balls for a child's S to 15 balls for an adult L.)

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping to go to WEBS sale and now I know just what to look for!!
