charmed knits giveaway!

I just got some yarn back that I had for book projects and I'm sharing it with you! There's yarn for socks, gloves, a wizard hat, lots of different house hats (remember, the pattern is available for free on the Charmed Knits Knitalong site and you can donate your finished hat to Warm Woolies with the other knitalongers!) and even some for a wizard robe! All the yarn is as pictured (some yarn might have been used for swatching and unravelled) and in complete skeins.

Rather than do one big giveaway and gift some poor Gryffindor with Slytherin yarn, I'll post each item separately. Leave a comment to the post of any item you'd like to win by noon (eastern time) on Sunday. I'll randomly choose a name from the comments of each post and will notify the winner. If you could send me $2 by PayPal if you win to help with the shipping that'd be great.

Thanks for playing along. Good luck and happy HP knitting!

Hi Alison - just received your book in the mail and excited to get started on scarf 3-4 ASAP, but the color suggestions are confusing among Cascade's site, their selected house colors, the item name & numbers listed on Cascade vendor sites, and your proposed colors. May I contact you for suggestions?

Posted by: owl knits at June 10, 2007 10:20 AM

Actually, my oldest is a Slytherin fan....or rather she has a crush on Mr. Malfoy (the older). So yarn, book, anything......

Posted by: Judy at June 10, 2007 11:23 AM

I know I'm too late for this contest, but had to jump at the opportunity to thank you for putting "Charmed Knits" together, Alison.

I ordered a copy through my LYS (always support the local store!!) and it FINALLY came yesterday. My best knitting buddy and I rushed over to purchase our set-aside copies. Before we made it in (within an hour of our phone call), the LYS had already sold two of the extra copies they ordered. When we insisted they order it a few months ago, they were skeptical (neither of the 2 owners has read HP). Ha. They will wish they ordered more. My LYS didn't have the house yarn colors; while I search for the colors at other yarn stores, I am starting with a cashmere invisibility (lace) shawl/cloak they did have the yarn for.

Last night I read your book cover-to-cover, including the designer bios. Your book far exceeds my hopes. I expected the sweaters and scarves (although the excellent instructions, illustrations, and sidebars are a super surprise). But you have even more! I am delighted you have **Dobby socks**! I love the Quidditch socks! The variety of hats are another big plus. This is not only a fan book... there are cool patterns with clever techniques that even someone ignorant of HP (could there be such a person?) would appreciate very much. Even the baby hats are fresh.

My 12-year-old knitting daughter and I are going to love knitting through this book. I may even horrify her by making my queen-sized self a Mrs. Weesley over-the-top sweater. Mwa-ha-ha.

Posted by: Gail at June 10, 2007 11:27 PM

I would love to win your book. I've got 5 hats sone, 6th underway, and would love to make more. E'one I know has enuf hats, scarves & sweaters to last them and their descendents generations. I need new folks to give stuff to!

I LOVE those ruffly multi-colored sleeves, and finally KNEE SOCKS! Knee sock patterns are so hard to find. I would love this book, especially because my step-daughter is a gigantic Harry Potter fan (although she herself is quite small). It would be fun to have something HP to knit for her. The book looks great!
