tonight's the night!

All ready for the big book release! I've got my Harry glasses, a Gryffindor beret from my book, and a Marauder's Map shirt I made with some iron-on paper (got the idea from one of the fabulous women at Webs this weekend). I'm listening to Harry and the Potters and am excited to stand in line to get book 7. Then it's out of the country I go, far far away from the internet and the television and the hints and the spoilers. I want to pick up my book and disappear...

No mischief, please. I know there are some "reveals" out in internet-land already and I don't want to see any of them. Thanks!

Heh! Cute shirt! I might have to make one for myself one of these days...

Great shirt!! Enjoy your vacation--and I book!

Posted by: Cath at July 20, 2007 11:35 AM

I meant--and the book. Too much HP on the brain!

Posted by: Cath at July 20, 2007 11:36 AM

Wooo-hoo! I am so ready for my book. Die, Spoilers, Die!

I love the shirt! I might have to copy (or be inspired). Thanks for fueling the excitement!

Posted by: Gwyn at July 20, 2007 12:35 PM

You so need to sell that shirt. I will buy one. Totally. All of my friends would too!! I don't have the chutzpah to be standing in line, but we have a coven of Harry Potter fanatics that will be attending a special book release party tomorrow night. I'll get my book then...

What fun. I just listened to your interview with Kathy & Steve this morning. Safe travels!

Posted by: Jennifer at July 20, 2007 12:53 PM

I was planning on going to a book release party tonight, but we're going camping instead. When I get back on Sunday, I'll pick up my book. If I'm really lucky my Deathly Hallows book on CD (rented from recordedbooks.com) will be in my mailbox on Monday morning. Then I can listen and knit at the same time. Cannot wait!!!

that's fantastic! Would you be willing to share the font you used? Otherwise I can search thru my hundreds of fonts ;)

Posted by: Lori at July 20, 2007 1:06 PM

Dude. I *LOVE* the shirt!!! Just getting caught up on my podcasts b/c I was on vacation, and I heard both your Ready, Set, Knit! and It's a Purl, Man interviews yesterday. Too cool! Are you coming to the San Francisco area soon, or did I miss it?

Posted by: Erica at July 20, 2007 1:24 PM

Lori, the font I used is Blackadder ITC. It was so easy to make!

Posted by: ALISON at July 20, 2007 1:33 PM

Great shirt! I'm making one with the Gryffindor lyrics to "Weasley is our King" on the back, and a crown on the front. I'm so excited!

Posted by: Jo at July 20, 2007 2:05 PM

Glad I could be of service. Enjoy the shirt.

Posted by: Melissa at July 20, 2007 2:19 PM

I love the shirt! I am sure I could make one for myself (though I'd probably end up cross-stitching it which would take way too long) and my hubby. We're going to be waiting in line tonight too.

Posted by: Seanna Lea at July 20, 2007 2:48 PM

yay! it's beautiful... I never would have guessed at that font (it's so much smaller than all the others that it didn't look like it...).

Now to get the rest of the stuff--something to occupy the remaining 9 1/2 hours!

Posted by: Lori at July 20, 2007 3:27 PM

Oh man, I'm so excited! That's a great idea for a shirt! I forgot to grab my scarf before I left the house this morning, I better call the husband to see if he can bring it. I knit it, I might as well wear it.

Have fun on vacation!

I can't wait!!

Posted by: allie at July 20, 2007 3:52 PM

I envy you: you will be insulated against spoilers on your vacation!

Posted by: Patti purls at July 20, 2007 3:58 PM

I'm off to get my book shortly and don't worry, I would never every think of spoiling it for you or anyone else.

Posted by: Angela at July 20, 2007 4:28 PM

I sat in line at Borders this morning (arrived at 8:00am) had my orange buy the book arm band by 9:20. Charmed Knits was part of the Borders all things Potter display, and I saw a few mums pick it up and put it in their stash. I posted my Gryffindor knee highs on the blog today, if anyone wants to take a look. I am going as Professor McG., wearing my socks under my evening clothes. It's all to exciting for words.

Posted by: Isobel at July 20, 2007 4:46 PM

I will be at "Hogsmeade" in a nearby town, drinking butterbeer and wearing my hip house scarf from your book. Thanks for the great patterns!

Posted by: Therese at July 20, 2007 5:14 PM

I just got my bracelet for picking up my book tonight (#16). Your book was in the window and table display with the other Harry Potter books. So adorable.

Enjoy!

Posted by: Christy at July 20, 2007 6:51 PM

I'm ready too! I have my "weasley is our king" shirt & funny enough I made my husband a marauders map shirt just like that (but with stencils).

I guess great minds think alike!

Enjoy Harry Potter and have a wonderful trip!

Posted by: Sharon at July 20, 2007 7:11 PM

OMG! I just moved and one of my newest neighbors is Harry and the Potters UNCLE!!! I never heard of them until yesterday and now you posted about them. Too funny!

Posted by: knittingnurse at July 20, 2007 10:24 PM

Enjoy the trip! I know it seems "scary" to go to no tv or computers, but it will work out. It may be very relaxing (as planned) or it may just make you miss them, but sometimes a change IS better than a rest! (I went to visit relatives in Ireland with my small kids last month....very limited dialup access for only two days of the trip. and I go to grad school online! but turned out to be fine and I had loads of fun blogreading when I got back.)

The shirts are INSPIRED! I have to copy that! (I will credit you though. Fantastic! What is girlbaby going to wear if her brothers are up to no good making mishchief?)

Hooray for Harry Potter!
