hard knocks

Today I was hoping to show you some pics of a new finished project or maybe share a little review of a big new knitting book I've been enjoying, but then life got in the way. An after-school playground accident, a trip to the ER, one brave little boy and one worn-out mommy means there'll be no knitting post today. But we do have stitches - three to be exact!

B is back at school telling his story to all his little friends and I'm recovering at home with wee one, some crappy tv and a big bag of hershey kisses. Knitting to resume tomorrow.

Poor mom! My daughter got 3 stitches last summer after falling at crafts camp (!), and I was the one who needed a sedative. Let's hope baby snuggles and chocolate do the trick.

I'm so sorry! There's nothing worse than seeing your child hurt or sick -- nothing! Take care of yourself today. The Hershey's Kisses are an excellent idea. Maybe a trip to the yarn store?!

Make sure B. knows that chicks dig scars! (Hope everybody's feeling better...)

Posted by: Shannon at October 16, 2007 10:58 AM

Best wishes to B. for a speedy recovery! And to echo Shannon, chicks dig scars! I'm sure it will serve him well in the future... :)

If the injury is anything like my daughter's knee injury it's not the stitches its the shots before hand to numb the area that are tramatic.
My sympathies to your son and to you. I'm glad it wasn't an injury that is more serious.

oh my sweets...so, now that the initial "trauma" has passed, can i admit that somewhere in the recesses of my mind, i am pleased that i will finally (more easily) be able to tell the boys apart :)

Posted by: lisa b at October 16, 2007 11:15 AM

Poor thing! Hope you are both feeling better today. x

Posted by: Carol at October 16, 2007 11:38 AM

Ahhh, poor baby. I hope everyone is feeling better soon.....

Posted by: Jeanie at October 16, 2007 12:29 PM

Poor B! I hope his stitches feel better soon and don't itch too much!

Posted by: Sandy at October 16, 2007 12:43 PM

Sending healing thoughts to B's head wound. (I work with high school students and often tell them that they are only excused from mandatory events if they are bleeding from the head. B would be excused.)

Be gentle with yourself. These trips always seem to be tougher on the mom.

poor baby tell B I hope he is feeling better real soon. as a mom I am sure you are taking it alot worse then he is

Posted by: pat at October 16, 2007 1:10 PM

ah, hope you get to rest and feel better. it's no fun when anyone gets hurt.

Posted by: Isa at October 16, 2007 1:26 PM

Something like this is always harder on Mom than on the Kiddo! Poor little B with a boo-boo. Hope he heals quickly.

Posted by: Katherine at October 16, 2007 1:44 PM

Poor you & B too! For B though he gets the bragging rights. You need time to pass, so you can get it off of your mind. Hope B heals quickly.

Posted by: Sherry at October 16, 2007 1:53 PM

Owie! They all seem to get at least a bump or two, but it doesn't make it any easier to get through.

Posted by: LaurieM at October 16, 2007 1:59 PM

Oh no! Hope he's feeling better. At least he's got a cool scar to tell stories about!

Posted by: kelly at October 16, 2007 2:01 PM

Oh, poor guy! And I agree with an earlier comment - scars can be a total babe magnet... hope you're all recovered!

Posted by: Deirdre at October 16, 2007 2:38 PM

it will take you longer to recover than him. but, poor, poor, boy.

I went tumbling over the handlebars of my bike when I was about nine (riding downhill at full speed with a friend on board)- big cut on my forehead, very teeny tiny scar. if you are looking for it, you can find it. you just don't form much of a scar when you're that young.

so happy that you had the candy on hand. that helps. :)

Posted by: j at October 16, 2007 3:17 PM

Goodness!!!! Glad he's ok!

Posted by: Jessica at October 16, 2007 3:37 PM

Owwwie! Good to know he wasn't hurt too bad. Does it look like a lightning bolt? ;)

Posted by: Janice at October 16, 2007 4:24 PM

Oh, Poor B and Poor Mom! That is very traumatic! But one of many a story to come! :)
He's so brave!
I hope to see you this weekend!

It always seems worse than it is.

When talking on the phone with the nurse to see if my son had a concussion, I was going to hand it over to him. He said he was too busy eating! Then when he did get on the phone and after much verbosity (his), she said he was okay.

What would Plato have said about this?

Posted by: Anita at October 16, 2007 6:08 PM

oh, ouch~! All the best for a speedy recovery! From a long long time reader and mostwhile lurker

Posted by: nat at October 16, 2007 6:40 PM

Oi!
Sending you BOTH healing vibes.

Posted by: Lynn at October 16, 2007 7:11 PM

if it's any help, they do survive (as do you.)

as the mother of TWO danger babies, i got to know the emergency room people very well. they do grow up.

Posted by: minnie at October 16, 2007 8:27 PM

I prefer the knit kind of stich, ooohh, big hug?

Posted by: stell from new zealand at October 17, 2007 3:12 AM

Oh ouch! I'm glad he's ok.

Posted by: Samantha at October 17, 2007 9:29 AM

Being a mom is rough! I cried more then my little one, when he got his first vaccinations. B is going to look like one tough dude with a scar! Did he make the comment 'Mom, now you will be able to tell us apart!' (Harry Potter reference)

Posted by: Deana at October 17, 2007 9:31 AM

I was going to make a Harry Potter reference too, Deana! You beat me to it!

You are a brave boy, B! Give Mommy some love-- she sure needs it!

Posted by: Two Silver Cats at October 17, 2007 4:17 PM

Ouch! Sending healing vibes to you both, although things do seem well in hand. Those 3 stitches wouldn't form a lightning bolt pattern, would they?

Posted by: Ina at October 18, 2007 9:44 AM

ooooh poory boy! Not fun for you either I know I have been to the ER 2x in the last 6 weeks!! WOO HOO!!!
