not bad for a week

Thea's golden vintage cardigan, now with two fronts and the beginnings of a sleeve. And to think that I started this last Sunday! Can you tell that I'm enjoying it? All that stockinette, all that pretty pretty red Silky Wool, how could I not? My yarn seems to be holding out as well. I started with two skeins for the back, then found two and half more from fellow Knitsmith Johanna. I've just started the very last skein on this sleeve, so I have high hopes that I won't need any more yarn (which would save me the trouble of introducing yet another dye lot into this sweater). Fingers crossed!

See ya next Monday with a finished sweater!

It looks fantastic!

I don't think I could throw myself on the mercy of the Knitting Goddess and trust that the yarn would come the way you have. (That method was responsible for the many, many two-colored sweaters I made in the 80's, before I figured out yardage estimating.) But is seems to be working out beautifully for you. Kudos!

I couldn't resist trying to find some more Silky Wool--just in case. If you end up needing more and can't find it locally, WEBS does have it in stock in your color. Dye lot is a separate issue.

I admire your calm! I would be knitting frantically faster, and faster, in the hope that the speed would somehow compensate for the potential lack of yarn!

Wow it looks awesome. How can I get the pattern? Or at least see if it comes in my size. I scored some silky wool at a yarn shop going out of business. $2.03 per skein! None in the color you needed though. I had no pattern in mind when I got it, I just thought for that price I could not leave it at the store.

Donna, the pattern should be on Thea's site (follow the link in this post) soon! I think it'll take me five skeins of the silky wool to knit a 34/36" bust size.

The sweater looks stunning! I love the colour! I have just completed the sleeves of a sweater for my son in this yarn and his (VERY long) sleeves took just over one skein each. Now, I know there are all kinds of factors such as how many stitches you have on the needles etc., etc., but for an estimate, if you are knitting short sleeves you might just make it. Three quarter length sleeves might be rather tight. Good luck!

You are absolutely right, Valerie, I'm not going to make it. More yarn will be on the way soon, I hope!
