This morning, my babycables vintage cardi, wee one and I visited Thea (Ms. Babycables herself!) and her awesome button stash to see if we couldn't find the perfect buttons for my sweater. I was looking for something sort of vintage-y that wouldn't draw too much attention away from the cable detail along the button bands. What do you think?

I vote with Sarah for the fabric covered ones - they match REALLY well - would make you look very, you know, "put together" and matchy, etc.

Totally go for the pearl buttons. So classic and so beautiful. Don't think I would like the peach with the red. I can't wait for this to be released as it looks like such a great project and would be a great addition to any wardrobe.

I think the introduction of another color(peach) takes away from the sweater too much! It looks like its going to be an awesome sweater though!

The red fabric ones look great. The slight sheen picks up the lighter shade in the variegated yarn, but is also subtle enough not to draw attention away from the cables.

Peachy altho, if you had just asked, I would've said that peachy would not look good on red! But seeing them makes all the difference. Pearl ones are gorgeous & I would generally prefer them but the peachy ones just look fantastic.

I don't think there will be a consensus, but I like the fabric covered buttons. Those and pearls make me think vintage the most. The red buttons allow the focus to be on the cardigan, while the pearls seem to make the button band and its line more of a focal point to the pattern.

I like the peachy ones the least because I don't think the color matches. The sweater is a bluer red rather than an orangey red. If the fabric covered ones are a really close color match I would go with them. I like the subtlety. If they are a bit too much off, I wouldn't go with them. They seem borderline in the picture, but I have no idea how they look in person. The pearl and silver buttons are gorgeous. I love how they look on their own. They seem like they would really stand out though. My advice is to look at all 5 buttons on the sweater from a distance. They can have a very different effect close up versus at a distance.

I'm surprised at how many votes there are for the pearl buttons-- I think they are the ones that stand out the most! Not necessarily a bad thing, but I thought the point was not to draw attention away from the cables. The red fabric ones look the most "bespoke" to me.

Just in case you haven't made a decision yet:
the pearl & silver have more of a vintage feel, but the red fabric ones are more subtle, so the cables would stand out better.
