where are they now?
Poor Dolly and poor Wee One..I hope they both get through this quickly and with as little misery as possible!
OH! how sad, I hope dolly likes her bath. I'm sure wee one will understand that it is needed. Poor little mite. Show wee one that picture and she will see dolly is happy having a bath.
At least you can't pin her on the washing line by her ears. That's what my mom used to do with my favourite toy. I used to cry apparently! Hope Dolly is clean and wee one feeling better soon.
The Dolly I made never has any of her 3 dresses on when I see her!
Roo, that is so brilliant to make different dresses! Why didn't I ever think of that. The dress and the head are what get the dirtiest. I had thought about making a second dolly, but a second dress would be easier and faster. Thanks!
Ooooh, hanging up the doll by the ears. Ouch!
What an adorable photo. I can't remember what yarn you used for Dolly. ? My favorite bunny was covered by the tide several times one summer in Maine and had to be hung by his ears on the line to dry. Ever after, he had rust stains on his ears from the clothespins - until a friend told me to use Naval Jelly which removes rust stains chemically. Works on Oshkosh overalls, too!
Mary, I used Classic Elite Bazic, because I couldn't imagine using the Lamb's Pride Worsted the patterns called for and ever being able to wash the thing! The Bazic has held up well to the wash - it's a little fuzzier, but that could just be from all the baby loving! It's certainly not felting.
Awww...
That reminds me, I still need to wash my hippo. When we moved from Florida to Texas I put him in the carrier with the kitten (she looked so lonely) and now he stinks!
Poor little Wee One. I hope she and Dolly are all better soon!
Try making another dolly if you have leftover yarn. One can be washed while the other is loved. They can only tell the difference around the time they can knowingly relinquish the object for washing. Works here.
I hope they both pull through. Nothing like a stomach bug to motivate some household cleaning.
Poor wee one and poor dolly! Thank goodness for superwash.
My best friend bought three of the same toy and would swap them out in the middle of the night so that "Bear" didn't get too horrible looking. It was years before my god-daughter found out that she had actually been loving multitudes of Bears!
Ha Laura, sort of like those Olsen twins on that Full House show! ;0)
Oh, Dolly is so adorable! And here I am about to have a wee one myself and it looks like Jess Hutch is not planning on printing any more copies of the booklet. :(
Baby love is tough stuff, though. I'm sure that wee one will love it all the more now that she's clean!
Poor thing!
I had a bear called 'Kuki' when I was a kid. He was much loved. His fur was brown and he had green 'trousers' (that were part of his fur). Some said he was a dog (idiots). Anyway, my mum made washing him fun by explaining that the washing machine was his idea of a funfair - all the tumbling and water and stuff, and the dryer did the same. Worked great! Even now I think of him having a go on the rollercoaster :) (Except that he's so frail now that he can only be washed by hand, poor chap).
Oh, I'm sorry for all of you! My smallest one (now 10) had that two weeks ago, and must have had a lot in her tummy; I was doing laundry continuously for the next 24 hours. Hope no one else gets sick (thinking good thoughts).
Your song needs a good, strong one syllable word, though, you know, to really scan:
"I'm going to wash that barf right out of my hair,
I'm going to wash that barf right out of my hair,
I'm going to wash that barf right out of my hair,
Then I'll be clean again!"
Ha - edited to say I found a picture of him; some idiot is selling him on ebay http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370051182315#ebayphotohosting
Must bid and rescue the poor chap.
For years my parents searched far and near for another one. Never found one until I was 20 and at university. :)
Cathy-Cate, now I'm singing all the songs from South Pacific!
I hope Wee One is back to normal soon.
Isn't it heartwarming when they love their stuffies that much?
i have a 28-year-old bear that still doesn't like to get washed, but all that loving he gets necessitates it! good luck to dolly on making it through the wash, and hope wee one gets well soon!!
Tee hee- hilarious- she'll soon be fresh as a daisy and wee one will run in the other direction! I know what it's like to try to pry the lovies from the little mitts : )
oh, poor wee one and poor little dolly. Hugs to all...
Man, I would love to have that pattern but the link says she isn't having the book reprinted!! Wah...what do knitters do in this kind of situation?
My grandmother used to knit us two of any dolls and blankets when we were children. I still remember my sister screaming when my mother took away her beloved blanket for a wash (it was a health hazard by that stage). Other than the need for a wash, the doll seems to have withstood all of that love very well indeed :)
She'll be like new!
I love it when they love something you made- that's the best feeling.
