first and last
It's the last day of first grade! The boys' classes celebrated with "First Grade Olympics", including:

the long jump

the shuttle run

badminton

and soccer
I sewed my first blocks for the civil war sampler, including:

"Lincoln's Platform" block

"Underground Railroad" block
And did the last bit of embroidery on wee one's bonbon sweater, including lilac and still that red (love that red!):

I think I finally got a good picture of the red here.
It's the first day of summer and the last day that I'll have time to take a shower and sit and write a post like this until September. Yikes!

I can totally relate to your last sentence! My son finished kindergarten last week and my daughter is graduating from preschool next week. The summer really throws a wrench into the routine (work, working out, knitting, etc.) of us moms! Happy summer!
Love the red in Lincoln's Platform! Really makes that block. You've done a great job with such small scale precision sewing but I knew you would!
LOL!!! I can relate to the last sentence, also. I can't seem to find time to shower until around midnight and I got up at 5 this morning in order to spend some quality time with my blog :).
Good luck with the summer. Just remember to have fun and not stress too much.
Those quilt squares look amazing!
I have a newborn. She won't sleep in a crib. Showers are something I snatch at greedily when she's fast asleep in DH's arms. Enjoy your summer!
P.S. Love the quilt squares!
Oh wow...those pictures sure do bring back memories...
I remember those days like they just happened...such fun...
The blocs are BEAUTIFUL! Love the repros! Looking forward to seeing more.
The embroidery really makes the little bonbon sweater look all finished and snazzy! The red is terrific!
I've just returned home from my daughters' primary school sports day here in the UK - seems that we mothers share similar experiences the world over!
The little cardigan is very pretty.
