butterfly net

I'm spending my time this evening searching the net for a pretty little charted butterfly pattern. Know of one??

I've made it to the armholes of wee one's Barefoot Knits tank and have suddenly decided that I need to put a little butterfly on the front. Because she loves butterflies!

I love it that she smiles with her whole face/body. A delightful photo. ~ksp

Here is one butterfly. If you google butterfly washcloth you can find some more

Great idea to search for dishcloth patterns, Frieda! Thanks! :)

How's your French? :) There seems to be more of an interest in colourwork charts in France - there are loads of them available on French knitting sites - Google 'grille tricot' to find them (you can navigate them pretty easily even if you don't know any French).

Here's one with a butterfly: http://crea-grilles.fr/ANIMAUX.html
(click on the menu link at the top to go back to their main page)

Hope that helps! :)

I found a few lovely things on Ravelry if you search keywords "butterfly lace." The butterfly sock is a nice intarsia pattern, the dishcloth good for patterned stitches or the crocheted bookmark could be fun as an applique!

You might want to look for a crochet butterfly pattern and sew it on for a little 3D effect.

Try Brigitte's Knittingpage. She has all sorts of cute charts for knitting, including animals and anime characters.

There was a recent thread on rav asking this same question, several nice suggestions there: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/stranded/616266/

Also love the idea of a sewn on crochet one for the 3D effect.

So cute - just want to pick her up & give her a big hug (can you tell I'm missing my granddaughter who is about the same age & general appearance as Wee One?) Love the dress. Did you make it?

Posted by: Donna at April 29, 2009 5:40 PM

Yes, Donna, I made the dress earlier this year. I've been surprised by how much I really like it on her!

Posted by: ALISON at April 29, 2009 11:22 PM

I remember reading the post about the dress, and I love it when Wee One models them. I don't have anything to add about the butterflies, but I did want to tell you she looks adorable in that picture.

Have you considered embroidering one on with duplicate stitch later? There's a really pretty butterfly in Poetry in Stitches that I've used before that's done with duplicate stitch.

Wendi, I love that butterfly! I've always wanted to make that sweater, but never worked up the courage. I'll have to check out that pattern again and consider the little butterfly. Thanks for the reminder! :)

Under "Papillon Cloth" on ravelry is a nice lttle lace one that would go well with the lacy ruffle border you put on the tank.
