serger saves sewer's sanity!

Frankly, the serger frightens me a little. Look at that giant presser foot contraption! And the knife blade next to it! Then there's the complicated threading system. But, man, once you get everything all set up, it is sweeeeeet.

Earlier this week, I shortened and hemmed some new curtains for the living room in no time. Blind stitching and finishing edges in one pass, baby! And all that at a speed my regular sewing machine could never manage. Sergers rock!

I've had these Ikea curtains for months and had been meaning to quickly hem them forever. With the in-laws arriving for a visit today, I decided I finally had to get them up on the windows. Enter scary serger, saving the day!

Nothing like the imminence of guests for getting those house chores accomplished! Me, I just started your Harry Potter sweater in Gryffindor colors; it's going to have an R on the front.

I'm thinking about getting a serger. How did you decide which one to buy? Do you know of any website that has reviews?

This post made me all of a sudden envious of all serger-owners. I'm sure that I would be twice as productive with all that speedy finishing!

Yeah! What a great time to pull out the serger, I'm sure it saved a TON of time!

Now you just need a bigger sewing table so you can keep both your serger and your sewing machine out all of the time.

My DH gave me a serger (that I picked out) for Christmas. It is so fast and I've used it so much just for hemming my mother's dresses that I think it's already paid for itself!

Sergers are scary to me too. That's why I don't have one yet. (P.S. Firefox has red-underlined 'serger' as not a word. Time for a gift subscription for them to Threads magazine.)

Great job, conquering your fear of the all-empowering serger!!! Once I figured out how to use mine, I have driven that puppy into the ground!!! Definitely worth my few $$ I paid for the floor model at Service Merchandise. You'll never go back, now =D
